I go all the way across town to Thom's to buy my vitamins -- there is a large choice of brands and things you'll never find at Walgreen's. They even refrigerate things like acidophilus. There's a huge book (like an old fashioned dictionary) on a stand in the store so you can look up your own information about vitamins, herbs, etc. A bit bewildering, but better too much information than not enough. For a relatively small place, it packs in a lot of stuff. I don't buy their groceries, but it's always the busiest part of the store. The staff seems a bit indifferent, but if you ask a question, they'll get you the answer. A laidback piece of old hippie San Francisco.
