When returning to NYC for business recently, 9 of my colleagues and I booked rooms at the Metropolitan Doubletree for a night. I expected full business class accommodations but found nothing of the kind: though advertised, there was no access to internet in the room; stained bedskirts; stained carpets; and worst of all--poorly maintained and tiny bathrooms. Two of us had bathrooms where the ceiling was falling down due to water damage from the floor above and the shower curtain and tiles had mildew on them. The rest of the group agreed that the value for the money was very poor. This was definitely not what I expect at any price, nevermind top dollar. The hotel's response to our complaints was to offer an upgrade next time--no way! There won't be a next time. Pros: location Cons: self-park garage not convenient, dirty bathrooms, poorly maintained
