I had a $3500 Judd Waddell BEAUTIFUL wedding dress. It looked very simple, but for an EXPERIENCED seamtress it actually required great attention to detail and expertise. During the fitting I purposely had the owner, Mary, pin the hem as long as possible, practically touching the ground in the front, but barely taking anything off in the back of the hem. The back of the dress has a folded over piece of silk materiel (as the bust of the dress was silk and from just under the bust organza), that covered the seam of where the silk and organza met, and had three buttons running downward, and to a v-shaped point. When they took in the dress they COMPLETELY DESTROYED the stucture of this delicate folded material, the seam underneath was showing, the balance was off, I ALMOST CRIED (but decided it wasn't worth it). The hem in the front of the dress was MUCH HIGHER then it was pinned at the fitting. I did not want my shoes to show while walking but had no choice at this point. Also, the slip underneath was SHORTER than the top layer of organza, IT COULD BE SEEN THROUGH THE ORGANZA AS SHORTER! The taking in was TOO TIGHT, but fortunately they loosened it a little for me. The owner TAKES NO RESPONSIBITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS!! She said 'we worked very hard on it and we should have charged the $700 that the other seamtress was going to charge you'. I asked her upon our initial meeting if she could do the work without compromising the structure of the dress. SHE SAID YES. I also asked if she would be doing the work on the dress, SHE SAID YES. Yet she didn't, HER HELP DID. When I was waiting for them to take out the dress a little (so I could breathe), I heard her say to her help "why did the slip come out shorter?". Needless to say, $260 lost and the wedding over, no one noticed the details I noticed, and everyone thought the dress was beautiful. But if you want quality alterations go to an experienced and maybe even expensive seamtress. BEWARE MESA ALTERATIONS!!! Pros: NONE Cons: HORRIBLE WORKMANSHIP! DISHONEST! IRRESPONSIBLE!
