We took our 2002 Chevy Tahoe in for a major service at 120,000 miles. We had never used them before, but figured they'd do a decent job, seeing as how they're a Chevy dealership. After looking at the vehicle, they called us with a few more recommendations (of course), some of which we agreed to and others which we declined. After picking up the vehicle the next day, we noticed the ABS light was on. It has never been on before. We immediately drove back into the parking lot and asked why it was on. The mechanic told us that we'd have to bring it back the next day, and pay $140 for a diagnostic. We basically told him, "No way!", and after being a bit more pushy, he agreed to look at it for free. Then he added, "Well, there is some body damage on the passenger side fender" (which is conveniently located right next to the ABS detector). This is damage that happened 4 years ago, and caused no mechanical damage. And if this was a legitimate issue, why was it not addressed in the initial phone call and addressed with the other items that needed repair? We asked that he take the Tahoe back into the shop and fix it immediately. He said they were closed for the night and we'd have to return it the next morning. So we took it back the next morning and they told us they couldn't look at it because they were too busy. There were no vehicles in the shop and about 6 guys standing around. We demanded that they fix it immediately. They finally took it into the shop to turn the light off. The mechanic told us that there was dirt on the connection and it just needed to be wiped off. So basically, we spent over $1500 on a major service, and they still tried to be dishonest with us. I would never return to this dealership for service or purchase. This experience was a nightmare and proof as to why people question some mechanics' integrity. Pros: none Cons: save the stress and stay away from them. rude, confrontational mechanics
