I took my cat to this vet last week after a couple days of him vomiting, having a bulging anus and squatting to have a bowel movement with no success and seeming very uncomfortable (This has happened before, records were sent from previous vet showing result of the cat simply being dehydrated). The vet made a physical examination and found no abnormalities in his abdomen and took him for the afternoon to observe him. Later that afternoon I got a call from the vet suggesting we run $400 worth of tests. I denied that option as the cat is very old and the amount of money makes no sense for a cat beyond his years. I suggested we put an I.V. in him as this was the result from the previous dehydration diagnosis, the doctor refused - Charged me $54 for his 'exam'.
Sensing this vet had actually done little to exam my cat, the next day I took my cat to another vet. After examining my cat for 3 minutes she diagnosed him as being constipated (she let me feel the abdomen, the contents were compacted to the size of a golf ball and roughly 3 inches long, easy to feel and something a knowledgeable vet should be able to detect! This didnt happen over night, it was very large!) and dehydrated (previous exam showed other vet this, he refused to hydrate my cat), total fees were $64 for an enema and I took him home to eat and drink. Problem is since resolved.
BEWARE... I called to get a refund for this hack's 'exam', to no avail. This vet is out to make money on unnecessary tests at your expense. Seek out other options so you don't get suckered like I did!
