Review content:
The decor in this charming hotel is beautiful and not cheesy, as it could have easily turned out. The Hollywood glam details are well-done and consistent. The lobby is gorgeous. The King Feature room was large, with a sitting area and nice furniture. The bathroom wasn't huge but was well-done with marble and a nice sink and fixtures. The bed was soft and cozy. If you appreciate old world charm, you're more likely to like this place. We had stayed here a couple of times when it was the threadbare but still nice Mallory and this is a great improvement on that classic. We love the Driftwood Room, which is updated some but still has it's charm. We didn't eat at Gracie's but the atmosphere looked wonderful. The location is great because it is near to downtown, The Pearl District (including Powell's Bookstore), and 23rd Avenue shopping. The only negatives were that the staff, though nice, seem young and inexperienced. The valet that returned our car had driven it with the parking brake on (despite the angry red light telling him so) and told us that our car was making a "noise." Last, depsite our room being one of the nicer ones in the hotel, it shared a wall with the stairwell, which was noisy during the evening though not at night. Pros: Wonderful decor & old world charm, location, Driftwood Room Cons: Inexperienced staff, parking
