Review content:
I took my cat, Big Red, to Peninsula Veterinary Clinic because he was not eating his dry food. He was eating his wet food and drinking normally. He did not appear to be sick in any way except for needing dental work, as he had been treated for a similar eating problem 3 years earlier. Big Red was diagnosed with kidney failure. Per medical advice from Dr. Cammarata, I let them keep Big Red for 3 days on IVs because Dr. Cammarata said they needed to flush out his kidneys. So three days later ? I pick him up; now he has water on the lungs, plus an allergic reaction to an antibiotic shot, which they had to counteract with a shot of antihistamine, and he?s gagging, having difficulty swallowing, and regurgitating white foam. Here?s what Dr. Cammarata told me over the phone the following day after I picked him up, ?You will have to keep him hydrated via subcutaneous drip or I?m afraid he will pass on?. I did that, however, he was overhydrated and died 6 days later. Here?s what Peninsula Vet Clinic medically did wrong: 1) Did not properly manage his Intake and Output (I&O) resulting in gross over hydration, producing severe anemia that led to his death. I implore you to reconsider taking any of your pets to Peninsula Veterinary Clinic. Pros: Appear to be competent Cons: Do not seem to really care about an animal's welfare
