I switched to this practice when I moved to the Farmington Valley Area. Although the hours are convenient, and the doctors are kind, I found the staff (nurses) to be quick, curt, and seemingly "stressed". Example: my autistic daughter was terrified about getting a flu shot and rather than calming & reassuring her, the nurse literally grabbed her arm and jammed the needle in. Now I have to deal with a child who is obsessed with and terrified of vaccinations. The practice is also adamant that I take her to UCONN(and ONLY UCONN?!?) for genetic testing that will be of zero benefit to her. Thanks, but no thanks on my kid being a lab rat- she's been through enough. Additionally, my son was diag'd with ADHD recently by a well-known and respected child psychiatrist- when I mentioned this at his physical, the MD rolled his eyes and said, "ALL kids are diag'd with ADHD these days and I would like to wait and see him outgrow it like most do." ?!?! I'll "wait and see for a cold or sore throat, but not when my child has demonstrated a consistent pattern of struggling on so many levels. Lastly, the office is old, dingy and in dire need of updating. The pediatric office I went to as a child in the 70's & 80's was more "together" than this place. Sorry, but in this day and age, I want to know my child is receiving top-notch care and I do not get that impression at Unionville Pediatrics. I'm disappointed to have to switch again and have struggled with this, but it's time.
