In Ann Arbor, do not even think of putting these out at the curb. Instead, bring them to the Drop off station, run by Recycle Ann Arbor at 2950 East Ellsworth Road, just south of the city.
This facility will take electronics off your hands for a fee, and will allow you to dispose of construction materials at a tipwall for a small fee (by the cubic yard).
They also sell composting bins - very handy in the summer!
