I saw Straylight Run along with Action Action, Bella Lea, and Firescape at Rock Island this spring, and I loved the place. No matter where you are, you're close to the stage. We were up by the Merch booth, and still no more than 20 feet away from the band. It was great. And, since most bands are rather small, they'll come out and talk to fans, which is awesome. The guys from Action Action were really cool, as was the singer from Bella Lea. It's great having the bands so close and accessible. And ticket prices are usually like 12 bucks, very affordable. Check this place out, it shouldn't disappoint.

The Starlight is a relatively tiny venue, but a really fun one once you get used to it. They don't get many huge names through, but smaller indie groups like Minus the Bear and Spitafield come through fairly often, and it's a great place for an intimate performance. Tickets are always in the ten to twenty dollar range, and it's well worth it. Plus, if you attend CSU, it's just a short walk from campus. If you like the music playing there, keep checking the schedule, you'll come to love the place.

Both the Arena and the Ampitheater here are great. I just saw the Vans Warped Tour at the ampitheater back in July, and it was great, perfect for such a show. I've also seen acts such as Incubus, John Mayer, and Blink 182 at the Idaho Center, and I've always enjoyed the shows. As usual, food and drink are nice and expensive, but that can be said for most big venues. As for ticket prices, they're ok, usually a little out of my budget, but I'll pay if I really want to see the band. Parking isn't a problem, traffic dissapates pretty quickly, overall, this place is just good for big ticket concerts.

I've only seen a few shows here, and I haven't been impressed, but I haven't hated it. Mostly small, indie bands come through, so don't expect Jessica Simpson or anyone, but if you're into stuff like Sufjan Stevens, you'll find bands you like. The atmosphere is pretty good, pretty intimate, but not as fun as some of the slightly bigger clubs. Prices are reasonable, as are those for drinks. I wouldn't advise against going, but I wouldn't endorse it unless you are into the band that's playing.

I'm rarely dissapointed attending shows at the big easy. I've seen everybody from Crashfour and Marcus Eaton and the Lobby (local bands) to MXPX and Copeland (not so local bands) and the venue is a great size (for all bands but arena rockers and huge names). It's intimate enough that you can see from pretty much anywhere, and get right up to the stage, but big enough to avoid really rough crowds and unpleasant smells. Check it out, it's a great place to see shows.

EPIC, aka Edora Pool and Ice Center, is pretty self explanatory, a pool and an ice rink. Both are fun, cheap, and usually not too crowded. From time to time, school groups will come, or it will just be a particularly busy day (usually in the summer months), but for the most part, it's not overly packed. I would avoid weekends, and don't bring big groups of kids (they can get out of hand), but otherwise, you'll have a good time.

This is by far the best calzone restaurant I know of. Nothing hits the place like some DP Dough at around 1 in the morning during a study break. They have a huge variety of flavors, or you can create your own. Prices are fine, not great, not terrible, definitely worth it though, and they deliver very late, all around CSU's main campus. Basically, this is a great place to get food, and I would highly recommend it.

This is an absolutely fantastic car repair place. If you drive an Audi, Volvo, any european car, this is where you should go to get it fixed. Now, the catch, it's damn hard to get an appointment. They are always fully booked up to like two or three weeks in advance. This alone speaks highly for their service, but can be a major inconvenience. If you can get in, they provide great service, with a courteous, knowledgeable staff. If not, better luck next time.

When I owned my 1989 Nissan Maxima, this was the only place I would take it to have it serviced (barring oil changes and the such). The employees are very honest and knowledgeable about japanese cars, and very courteous. I've never been upset or anything about the prices, and the service is worth every penny. If you have an import automobile, I would give these guys a call the next time you need anything fixed.

I've been here on field trips, and I find it very entertaining because it's not your run of the mill amusement park or arcade, it's very different. It's also very fun. The entire staff is very knowledgeable on the subject of raptors and birds of prey, and the facility has many different species of birds, as well as a wealth of information on how the birds live, their predators and prey, anything you could want to know. If you're looking for some fun that'll be memorable, head out to the World Center for Birds of Prey, it'll definitely keep you entertained.
