Splash of Color isn't your typical "tattoo parlor." A few years ago, I was producing a video about Tattoo's and was able to visit Splash of Color and get the grand tour.
Unlike many other places, "Splash" is very clean. All of their tattooing and piercing tools are sterlized and sealed after each use. This means that when it comes time for your piercing/tattoo, you get to see the artist open the equiptment out of the steralized packaging. Talk about peace of mind.
I watches as my wife's friend had her navel pierced. The artist explained everything as it was happening, and was very professional about the process.
I would recommend Splash of Color, Highly.

Quality Dairy is small chain of convenience stores in the Lansing area that carries everything from beer to their own name brand milk, doughnuts, bread and more. They are very nice because pretty much every area of Lansing has one, I think there are like 30 of them in and around Lansing.
Each one has an MSUFCU (Michigan State University Federal Credit Union) ATM, making it convenient to withdraw cash without having to pay ATM Surcharges.
Their brand items, including pop, juice, milk, bread, and more are very high quality items. I would say that they are higher quality than the "Meijer brand" or "Kroger brand" products.
I like "QD" as it is known around Lansing.

Before you visit any jewelry store in the mall, be sure to visit the independant jewelers around the area. One great example of this is Medawar Jewelers. They have locations around Lansing and in Jackson, I believe.
Their prices and quality actually beat the larger stores like Zales, JB Robinson, etc. I only wish that I would have visited this store before I purchased the diamond engagement ring for my wife a few years ago from Zales. Their service is horrible, Medawar, however, is excellent.
They have a huge selection and are always eager to help you choose the perfect item.

Pinball Pete's, in Ann Arbor and East Lansing, is an arcade that is great for letting loose after hours of studying or working. You'll know you're at Pineball Pete's when you see a crazy pink elephant, hear the sounds of video games being pumped full of money, and hear pool balls being racked up.
Its a nice place, but sometimes you get the rougher crowd hanging around there ... so if you're looking for a place to take a date, don't go here.
If you're looking to bang on a video game for a few hours and forget about real life, this is a great place though. Enjoy the arcade!

A few years ago, I wanted to get my girlfriend (now Wife) the gift of relaxation and pampering, so I checked out Douglas J salon. I ended up not getting a gift certificate (for other reasons), but I found out that this is a great place.
The salon is rather expensive, but you can go to the learning center, where salon-students work on you at a highly discounted price. And apparently the work they do is fantastic.
So, all in all, if you're looking for a high quality salon at barber shop prices, check out the learning center at Douglas J in East Lansing.

This store is a small part of the East Lansing "Grand River" strip. It sells quarky items like Black Lights, things that glow in black lights, silver, jewelry, and a lot of 70's inspired "hippie" items.
It is a lot of fun though, the store front cannot be missed, as normally you'll see crazy lights and black lights pulling you into the store as you walk down the strip. The prices are reasonable, and the environment is fun, so its worth a visit, even if you're simply browsing the selection.
Highly recommended if you are strolling through East Lansing, looking for somewhere different to shop.

Big Ten Party Store in East Lansing is a college student's dream. Alcohol, and lots of it. You can find any type of beer you can imagine at Big Ten, including imports from Germany, Canada, and anywhere else that great beer is made.
If you are tempted to use a Fake ID at this place, don't. Don't ever use one in general, but cerainly not here .. you'll be made an example of for sure.
Big Ten is located on Grand River, fittingly, it is right near the Frat houses and close to Cedar Village. They could not have picked a better place to put a liquor store. Honestly.
Highly Recommended.

This is a big-city music shop packed into the relatively small city of Okemos, MI. It is packed with music, instruments, and a very knowledgable staff that knows their stuff.
They also offer lessons at White Bros. for Guitar, Piano, you name it. The last visit I made was to purchase new guitar strings, and I didn't know what to buy exactly. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly to help me find exactly what I needed.
I would recommend White Bros. if you are looking to get into music, or if you are simply looking for sheet music, guitar strings, you name it. They've got it all.

CoreComm (formerly Voyager.net) is an East Lansing based Internet Provider that has local dial-up numbers across the US. While they don't have a broadband product, their dial-up access is pretty good.
I've used AOL for years, but started to see endless busy signals, so I tried CoreComm. Their customer service and tech support representatives are fantastic ... and what's more, THEY ALL SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH! :) No out-souring in this company, apparently.
I never see a busy signal, and if my connection fails, it is only because my modem is circa 1995. I would recommend them if you are looking for a back-up dial-up account for your broadband connection, or if you're looking to connect to the 'net with 56k

The Student Book Store, or "SBS" as it is known to all Michigan State Students, is conveniently located directly across from Campus along Grand River Avenue. It carries a huge selection of text books, as well as MSU apparel and other logo items.
During the beginning and end of the semesters, this place is JAM PACKED with students .. but not to worry, they open like 50 check-out lines to keep things moving. And to draw students in, they give away free pizza during peak times of the year.
SBS is fantastic, just be ready to brave the crowds if you're going to first, or last week of the semester.
