A good solid hamburger restaurant, a local institution that's been in business since 1954. Dick's offers reasonably priced food such as hamburgers, cheeseburgers, the Deluxe (with sauce and two beef patties and cheese) and of course the requisite shakes and soda pop. This one on Broadway is a drive in, but there's a sit down restaurant on Queen Anne. The nice thing about Dick's is that other than the prices, the menu never changes: just straight ahead hamburgers and fries. Good stuff for people who want no frills food.

Shoreline is a nice school and a particularly good option for students interested in automotive technology or dental hygiene. Shoreline's automotive program has sponsorships with local dealerships (Honda, Toyota, etc.) whereby they will pay for your schooling and in return when you graduate you will work for them. Not bad if you want close to guaranteed employment. Also their dental hygiene program is great and has a good reputation in the community. A nice college it is for those programs. The campus is nice too and located in driving distance to downtown Seattle.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. I ordered the Black Cod smoked over Apple wood and it was really, really, good. The fish was incredibly tender, and had a wonderfu, sweet smoky taste. The starter salad had a nice presentation and was very tasty as well. The ambience was very pleasant with gorgeous views of Shilshoe bay. It's not cheap, but if you have money to spend I highly recommend it.

This restaurant is hit and miss. Their Calzones are quite good and come in huge sizes at a reasonable price. You also get the option to choose your toppings. The Pizza has a nice crust, but last time I had it it was fairly tasteless. It was as if the chef forgot to add the seasonings. It's a noted UW Husky fan hangout, and there are tv's tuned to sporting events located throughout the restaurant. Overall it's not a bad place, just was disappointed the last time I was there.

The EMP has some interesting exhibits, but overall it isn't worth the price. The music laboratories are fun, you get to play drums, keyboards, and guitars, and the early rock n roll exhibit is interesting, but the museum seems way over priced. I enjoyed the Beatles and Bob Dylan exhibits I saw there, but it wasn't worth the $20.00 ticket price. It's obviously geared towards tourists, and it seems like a good draw. The architecture is received mostly negatively, but I really like the building (It's supposed to look like a smashed up guitar). It might be a worth a visit or two, and it's a good attraction for out of town guests, but overall I don't think it's worth it.

Fasica was the first Ethiopian restaurant I ever visited. The food is quite good and I recommend the vegetarian platter. It's a great deal that will fill two people up for $8.00. The dish comes with injera bread and potatoes, greens, beans and carrots. The also have live music on the weekends. Ethiopian is one of the best deals in town if you want cheap filling food.

A highly recommended restaurant in the S Indian mold, (although it also has N Indian food such as buttery curries ala butter chicken). The lunch buffets are the excellent, and the Tandoori chicken is the best in the Seattle area. The price is bit more expensive than most buffets, running at 7.95, but the selection is outstanding, cleary a greater range of dishes than most buffets making the extra pennys worth it.

Udupi Palace is my favorite Indian restaurant this side of New Delhi. The food comes served in Thali trays, (tin serving dishes) and is in the South Indian tradition, unlike most Indian restaurants in the Seattle area which serve in the North Indian tradition (buttery curries, Tandoori chicken and meats). The Dahl, (lentils) dhosas, and sambars (soups) are the closest things you'll find to real S Indian food in Seattle.

In Seattle it's hard to find real BBQ, but Jones comes relatively close. Jones is in the Kansas City tradition ala sweet sauces spread over ribs, brisket and chicken. The sauce is sweet and very tasty, the meat often tender and pleasant to eat. The biggest problem is the the lack of a real pit; the food simply doesn't have the smoky tenderness of real barbecue that you find in the deep South. Nonetheless, if you need a BBQ fix I recommend Jones.

Enat is a really, really good restaurant. Ethiopian food comes served with injera bread, a sour tasting bread, that is pulled apart and used to pick up the tasty dishes, that also happen to be spread out on a bed of injera bread. Our favorite dish is the vegetarian combo, a delicious mix of lentils, potatoes, veggies, all spread out over a platter of injera bread. This meal easily feeds 2 people for a cost of less than $10.00. I also like the kitfo, or raw ground beef mixed with spices. I know it sounds like a turn off to many, but trust me all you beef lovers: you'll love it. And besides, next time you're in an Ethiopian restaurant, remember the adage: "when in Rome, do as the..."
