There is really no place in Redmond to eat quality Japanese food. So this is probably as good as it gets. I tried the Oyako donburi. It was just average - nothing spectacular. For an average restaurant, the prices are fairly high (donburis around $10 and other entres like teriyaki, udon and > $10). The high prices don't seem warranted for the quality of food that you are getting.
If i've got a craving for Japanese, this is not a place I'd come running to.

I had heard some good things about this independent coffee house so I made the quick walk on a beautiful Saturday morning to check it out. The coffee was ok. The atmosphere is cozy but the customer service was really lacking. In coffee shopws like Starbucks and Tullys, the baristas are friendly and smile at you - they look like they enjoy what they are doing. The service at Victor's doesn't look twice at you and don't offer friendly welcoming smiles.

I walked 10 blocks to get another one of these bagels before leaving NYC. I ordered the multi-grain with cream cheese. THe prices are definitely reasonable but the amount of cream cheese they put on the bagel is rather ridiculous. If you love cream cheese you will be happy with it - otherwise, you'll do as i did and scrape half of it off. I love the texture of the bagel though - by far the best bagels i've had.

This place was delicious. I walked 40 blocks to find it (the name is misleading, it's actually on 3rd and 33rd - not on 2nd ave) but it was well worth the wait. I was told that people wait in lines for hours to eat here but I went on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30pm and the place was half empty. Great timing! I had Matzo ball soup and half pastrami sandwich. The soup was simple but just what you need to soothe the soul. i love soup!! the pastrami sandwich was just right too - delicious! would go again!

Very tastey pork soup base and noodles were made just right. Not too fatty, but packed full of flavour. The pork chunk was not as tender as I would have liked it to be. I just came back from a trip to Japan and have to say that it's not the traditional Japanese style ramen. It's more of a fusion style ramen noodle bar. The deco is very simple but still gives a feel for contemporary. The price of a bowl of momofuku ramen was $16 - pricey but I guess for NYC, that's not bad.

This is the place to pamper yourself. I usually hate getting my haircut becuase I never get what I want for the price I want to pay (< $30). I came to Gene Juarez to pamper myself (rarely do). The cut was $55 (senior designer) + gratuity. I came out of that salon with a great cut. The true test though is the next day after I wash my hair. It was still just as great as it was walking out of the salon! I really love my new cut. I would only come here when I want a specific cut and only to pamper myself.

I only come to Parlor Billiards for corporate events or large parties. Very open space with lots of tables. The staff tends to leave you alone though so it is hard to get drinks \ food while you play. They have happy hour where food and drinks are cheaper. My favourite is the waffle fries. They are reasonably priced even when it is not happy hour.

I like to come here because it is so close to work and home. If you live \ work in Redmond, this is probably the best Chinese in the area. Sometimes I will also come here for dim sum. The food is alright - i particularly like their congees. It is good on a rainy day (which is everyday here in Seattle). The service is friendly too although sometimes they will get distracted talking to one another that they will forget to fill your teapot. :P

Usually if I'm taking an extended lunch break at work, I will come here. They have a daily special for lunch that includes a bento box with a bowl of udon topped with a shrimp tempura. The bento box for today was fried fish fillets. The cost for the daily special is very reasonable at $9.95. The restaurant has a feel for traditional Japanese. Service is fast and friendly. Dinner menu is more expensive. Would like to see bigger, fresher sashimi as well.

We came to this restaurant because there was patio seating and the weather was unusually hot. There were many people with the same idea. It was a friday night and it was LOUD. do not come here if you are hoping to share a conversation over your meal. we were sat next to the front door so whenever someone entered, the door would hit my chair. the food is just average. it seems like every dish has goat cheese in it! i'm not a fan of goat cheese. i'd like to see a bit more variation in their menu options.
