The thing I like the most about them is that I have a mental block about eating more than two doughnuts. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are so fluffy you need three to equal one real doughnut.
If you want a GREAT doughnut go to Top Pot Doughnuts.

I am not a serious biker and wanted to get a decent bike to get started on. A friend pointed me in the direction of Bike Works a non-profit organization that sells bikes to support it's charitable activities of sending bikes abroad.
The staff at bikeworks are very much into bikes and are a lot more knowledgeable than myself about them. They sold me a reconditioned Raleigh for a fair price and it's lasted me four years.
It's not a big place and I don't remember there wasn't much selection. However, they did offer to contact me when something came in that fit my needs.
One thing I really likes was while I was there two neighborhood kids and one adult came in needing some assistance and the staff took care of it right there on the spot. They were very cool about and you could tell the neighborhood kids came in a lot.

Nearly my worst experience in an eating establishment.
The facts:
1. Our table didn't get visited by a server for 15-20 minutes until after we got there.
2. Two of us asked for cheese on our eggs. The eggs came without cheese. When we asked about it the server said, "Oh we can't do that here". Since I have been in a kitchen before I asked, "Are you sure you can't put some cheese on it and put it under the broiler?" He said, "we can't do that here." I sarcastically asked if we could get some cheese on the side. He brought me a side of cheese. I said, "Thanks."
3. Our food was served cold. Even if it was served with heat it would not have been good.
4. We barely touched our food and had to work for the bill.
To be fair this is my only experience with the place and I can't get myself to give it a second chance. The only reason it gets two stars is because the remodel they did on the building was well done. It would be a nice place to have a pleasant breakfast experience.

This is a family-run shop that oozes charm, quality, and freshness. Sandwiches are hearty and made to order. You can order any sandwich with 'the works' which not only includes your regular condiments and lettuce and tomato, but also sprouts...a rarity (and a personal favorite of mine). Soups are made fresh daily, and you can even buy a deli-style pickle to go with your sammy. Unlike your typical Subway-type sandwich shop, Pamela's has the freshest meats and cheeses, and they are definitely about using quality ingredients. Stop by often and you'll be blown away by how quickly Wayne and Shilo remember your name. Try the brownie with walnuts, as it's heavenly.

Budd and Co. isn't the cheapest garage in town but they are quick, reasonably priced and, mostly importantly, straight forward.
My experience with Budd and Co goes like this. I call and set up an appointment. They tell me when they can look at it. I bring it in that day, they look at it that day and get back to me that day with a diagnosis and price. This doesn't seem like such a big deal but most repair places just can't do this dance. I think it's irritating when you have to pursue the repair shop to find out when you can get you car back and how much it'll cost you to get it back.
The biggest perk of Budd is that they are straight forward. I have never felt like they were trying to up sell any service. I've done a little experiment too and it's not just me. I've sent many people there and they've all been treated well. ...and yes I would send my own mother.
The bad news - cars are expensive. This has nothing to do with Budd and Co. but sometimes cars are really broken and really expesnive to fix. Don't shoot the messenger! This is a little lesson that me and my transmission had to work out between the two of us.

In my opinion this is the best bet for sushi in Seattle. Maneki has a knack for finding the freshest fish and putting together tasty variations of traditional favorites. One of my favorites is the spicy tuna roll - they do it right - really spicy and large chunks of tuna. Another favorite of mine is their salmon sushi. I don't know where they get it but it's amazing. Most sushi places use farm raised Atlantic salmon but Maneki always seems to have deep orange-red wild salmon that is soooo tasty with a splash of soy and wasabi. It's so lean that it has to be wild and why shouldn't it be?! I mean, we are in the Pacific Northwest after all.
The atmosphere is definitely casual. You'll find a very diverse crowd of folks and a lot of them stacked up by the front door. Maneki never fails to be busy. I guess in that sense it's not so much of a secret but it's always been worth the wait. They have been at the same location for around 100 years (possibly more) and there's plenty of history in the place.
The service isn't the best you'll ever have but it definitely mirrors the casual feeling of the place. Don't get me wrong, I've never had a bad experience I just think of it as casual.
They do take reservations and if you have a large party they do have a couple of private rooms for 6-8 people.
...don't forget the salmon and spicy tuna rolls!
