Olson Mansion Golf Course is pristine and you'll find yourself on top of hill after hill. It's a very nice area and the golf is enjoyable. The hills can make the course a bit difficult, so a beginner might not do so well here. My son did enjoy driving the golf cart up and down the hills though. The price is alright, a little cheaper than some of the other courses in the area, but not the cheapest either.

Crossroads Golf is a good course to take your kids on or if you are just learning to play. It's a small course and very easy. They don't charge too much either which is nice since most of the other golf courses in the area charge more than I'd like to pay. It's definitely worth the drive we make from Renton to Bellevue. My son has learned to play fairly well on this course and I would highly recommend it for families.

My oldest currently attends Nelsen Middle School. It's a pretty good school overall but I've found the teachers lack in communication when your child is having problems. I would like it better if they contacted when the problems begin rather than when the problem has gone so far that the kids get into trouble at school. The teachers are nice and they treat the kids well. I was a little disappointed to see them take out the game room and start replacing it with a teacher's lounge. They put in new lockers at the beginning of 2004 and update their facilities often.

My third child starts Kindergarten this fall at Cascade Elementary School. My oldest went from first thru fifth grades and I could not be more pleased with Cascade. We've only had some minor issues and they seemed to be resolved right away. Most of the teachers are excellent and I fully trust them with my children. They have a lot of fun activities throughout the year, including Santa's breakfast, Christmas store, book fairs, carnival, movie night, fundraisers, and concerts. I am very pleased with the new principal as she is very friendly and good with the children.

Cascade Bowl is an ok bowling alley. Typical for what you would find in an old alley. They do offer some gambling and have a bar so I would not recommend it as a kid-friendly environment in the evening hours. I was pleasantly surprised when they gave out free bowling days to my kids at the end of the school year.

I visited the Cascade Beauty College once when I needed a cheap haircut. Big mistake! I hate waiting a long time to get my hair cut and it took so long and they didn¹t even do that good of a job. Not only did the gal who was cutting my hair take a long time but the professor that had to look over her work took a long time to even come look at it so I could be on my way. I do have a friend¹s wife that attended there and she does do a great job though! So while I may no recommend this place for a good haircut, I would recommend it as a beauty college.

My family rented two different apartments at the Madison at Fairwood Apartments. The staff were super friendly, especially the maintenance guy, whom we saw regularly. I was not impressed with the new paint job they did on the buildings nor with the prices that kept going up and up. There are not a lot of places to park, so if you come home later in the evening, don't expect to find a parking space close to your building. They did put in a new playground right before we moved out so there is a nice place for the little ones to play. One thing we didn¹t like at all was that there are power lines that go right down the middle of the apartment buildings. It's very unsightly and had we known about them before moving from the other side of the state, we probably would not have rented from the Madison. I would also not suggest getting a bottom floor apartment as they are partially underground and with all the rain, it can mold underneath the windows of the bedrooms that are right next to the dirt.

I took my car into Fairwood Auto Service Center for an emissions repair. They did a great job repairing my car, but when I went to pick it up, I found paint peeling off the top of the car. I did find out that it was not their fault in the end, but it was a little frustrating entrusting someone with my car only to find that damage was done to it while parked in the parking lot. Their prices did seem fair and I would probably have my car repaired here again if I needed an emissions repair again.

My family frequents the Fairwood Library every week. It's a smaller library but also not lacking in the books and other items to borrow. The library has a really nice feel to it and when you walk in, they have a display case filled with different collections of people that live nearby. The librarians are very friendly and eager to answer any questions you need answered.

Fairwood TV is a very crowded store! When my father in law had his DVD player repaired here and asked us to pick it up for him, we were surprised to find little space to walk in. It was messy also, especially around the front desk but the guy working there was friendly and I did think they had fairly good prices.
