This is a wonderful vet clinic--they are both animal and people friendly. Very competent vets, techs and receptionists. I've always received excellent service with decent prices. The vets always make home phone calls to see how the pets are doing and patiently answer the many questions that I always have. They are also open on Saturdays, which is really nice for those of us with busy work weeks! :))

I know this place is wildly popular, and I won't be for this post--but--I honestly wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. The atmosphere really was lovely and the food was okay, but this is what really did it for me. One of the courses included a piece of lamb. This was okay by me, but for personal reasons, I didn't eat mine. Much to my surprise, the proprietor came out and proceeded to scold me for not eating this piece of meat. I explained my reason and she went on to tell me how delicious it was and that I really should at least taste it.
It seems to me that if I am the paying customer (and the bill wasn't cheap), I should be able to decide what I will and won't eat. I won't be going back--that is for sure!

This is one of our all time favorite places to eat. We're never disappointed and always have a fabulous meal. They have one of the best wine selections we've found in this area, which seems to be fully stocked all the time. We've never ordered something that they were 'currently out of'. The food is very tasty--the salads, appetizers and main courses. My personal favorites are the goat cheese and roasted peper salad and the gorgonzola/pear pizza--yum.
Unlike the Purple Cafe in Kirkland, this one isn't so loud/gregarious and seems much more intimate. The atmosphere is warm and cozy in the winter and open and airy in the summer.

This place is a gold mine if you like to garden or like fresh fruits and veggies! The prices are about half the price of grocery stores and nurseries, everything is fresh and healthy, it is rarely crowded and the selection is great. We bought our pumkins over the weekend and were reminded of how much we like this 'store'. :))
They close during the winter months, except for the sale of Christmas trees and wreaths in December. I believe they open up again in late March or early April--a very happy day.

This was such a surprise! When I heard we were taking the train to Portland, I was...shall we say, not looking forward to it. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable this was. While it wasn't exactly luxurious, it was very comfortable and roomy. We got to sit back, visit, play some cards and just relax. The scenery is so much prettier than what you see from I-5 and the very best part--no traffic! At all! I will never drive to Portland again, but I do plan on taking the train again very soon.

I volunteer my time at MEOW, which is located in Kirkland (www.meowcatrescue.org). This organization is really the best of the best. MEOW is a smaller organization that just celebrated it's 10th year. This organization has such a warm, friendly and down to earth feel. And the animals come first--always. These lucky felines receive the royal treatment. The shelter itself is clean, bright, cheerful and friendly. Every year, MEOW places approx 1600 cats and kittens into loving, forever homes.

This store is just the best! They have so many wonderfully nutritious and wholesome foods to keep our pets healthy. They also have such an enormous variety of toys, pet beds, climbing furniture, leashes, collars, dishes. And, of course, the staff is very friendly and always helpful. On their countertop, they display donation boxes for some of the wonderful rescue groups in our area. This is the way pet food stores should be run.
