They also have a wide assortment of incredible breads including Rustic Wheat, Squaw and Harvest. As if that isn’t enough, they have an excellent cake selection including individual slices (try the mocha cappuccino mini cake that looks like a coffee cup) and larger cakes such as the Chocolate Supreme. They also do cakes for all occasions including weddings.

Acres of Books has been in business in Long Beach since the 1930s and has more than 1 million books in stock. A designated cultural landmark by the city of Long Beach, the bookstore is in its third generation of family ownership. This used bookstore has all kinds of books for readers and collectors. It’s full of nooks and crannies with books everything—and every time I go there I find an section I’ve never seen before. This place carries the most extensive book selection I’ve seen in California, and the employees really know their books and where they are.

The owner, Audrey, has managed to create an unique used (slightly used is more normally the case) clothing store that has the look and feel of a high-end boutique. The store’s monthly parking lot sale (clothing in the store more than a certain number of days is reduced even more in price) has been a long-time local event that includes free refreshments and a gift certificate drawing.

They also have extremely good danishes and their bread pudding made with their leftover croissants is excellent.
