My brother had a swollen gland and none of the peninsula hospitals knew what it was. We were recommended to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital and not only did he receive the best care possible, they also found out what was wrong with him. The atmosphere is so family friendly and takes the scare out of visiting the hospital. They have toys, books, and other comfortable things for your childen in every room, office, and corridor. This hospital is huge and God bless the people who work here. It's a really great place.

Almost every year, my school would take our class to the San Francisco Exploratorium. If you haven't been there about a bilion times, it's really fun. The main highlight of the museum (they even have a commercial for it) is the cow's eye dissection (everybody's so engrossed with the eye, they don't llisten to the person who's describing what he's doing and why he's doing what he's doing). It's pretty hideous- last year a boy even fainted. They have some pretty fun displays (I love the hands on projects the best).

All your shopping needs can be fulfilled at Stanford Shopping Center in a day or less (if you're really REALLY into shopping). They have great cafes, jewelers, clothing, and more. They have all the big stores like Tiffany's, Bloomingdale's, Coach, and there's a Louis Vuitton coming very soon! They have everything you need, and if you can't find it, whatever it is you're looking for, just yell at me.

I've been to many birthday parties that took us to Rainbow Nails Salon. The ladies there pampered us really well and did our nails really pretty. The first time I went, I just wanted simple, clear nail polish with a little "diamond" stud on the thumb. It ended up really pretty, and everybody wanted the same thing. They satisfy you for little money. All my friends go to Rainbow Salon to get their nails done. It's well known by all the teenagers in Burlingame.

Being the Mexican food enthusiast that I am, I'm always on the lookout for new Mexican restaurants that I haven't been to. Well, one day in S.F., I got hungry for some burritos, and I discovered a small one near where I was hunting for garage sales. I ordered a simple chicken burrito (it comes with tortilla chips). I didn't know that it was going to be heaven (all I knew was that I was hungry for some food, fast). BOY, I finished that HUGE burrito fast. I'm not lying when I say it's the best burrito I've tasted (so far). Plus, the cooks and waiters who work there are really nice. They gave me free guacamole (you have to pay a small fee if you want it with your chips. salsa is free, though). IF YOU LOVE MEXICAN FOOD, YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE. I'M SERIOUS. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.

This bakery is a family business that's been on the Avenue for years. They offer cookies, cupcakes, cakes, pies, tarts, and much more for reasonable prices. You're served by the owner and she's very sweet. She usually offers the kids a free sample such as a cookie. It's just those little gestures that make the Cakery a great example of customer satisfaction. They also serve hot and cold beverages and they have seats inside and out (kind of like the Copenhagen bakery that's nearby).

This store is really fun to shop in, and even just to browse and look at the new, featured displays. My favorite displays that they have are the holiday and summer ones. Really fun, vibrant colors! They have really amazing sales sometimes. Usually on little things like candles, lamp shades, coasters, and stuff like that. This is a great store if you live in a house or even an apartment. The colors they sell (in curtains, blankets, etc...) can really brighten up and "largen" a small space. You should go see this store!

My first pair of Adidas "all stars" was from here. I happened to find them for only $20 and they were a nice color too (but I haven't seen them have deals like that in a long time). They have really cute women's athletic clothes if you like to run, go to the gym, etc... A small, but cute addition, that they have is that at the register they have a jug of lemon water and paper cups (not sure if they do that anymore, though). It's the small stuff like that that I notice. I think that's really sweet to provide water for your "tired, athletic" customers. :) great store if you can find a good deal.

The only reason I'm giving this store 2 stars is because they're shoes are good quality, otherwise I would only have given it 1 star. I've always wanted an "athletic" shoe store to open up on the Ave, but I never expected it to be this expensive. It seems more like a shoe museum than a store, and I think other people agree with me, because I've never seen ANYONE inside. I like the decor and everything, but they should lower the prices. They sell mostly Nike shoes, and they're more expensive than the actual Nike store! I recently wanted to buy Air Force One's (a high top kind of atheletic sneaker), but when I went, the price was $150! I went to Niketown, and the price with tax and everything was much lower (same style too!).
