I like to try out different pizza delivery places by flipping through the yellow pages, and last week I fell upon Avanti Pizza. I don't know how they are at their location when they're taking your order, but on the phone, I wasn't very pleased...
It's not that they were rude, but they were careless. After ordering the lady didn't give me my total until I asked, and she didn't ask me if I wanted to pay by cash or credit. It's just these little things that I noticed. So, after I ordered, she told me the total waiting time would be 45 minutes (at least she told me THAT). The deliver didn't arrive until an hour and a half later, however. That's not cool. Especially when someone's craving some pizza.
About their pizza, I ordered half fresh eggplant and half cheese. I have nothing to say about it. Their crust tastes delicious, and the fresh eggplant I LOVED. But it wasn't worth the wait. Sorry.
P.S. Whenever you order pizza, check the back of the yellow pages. THey have many coupons for many pizzas there.
I think there's one for Avanti's, too.

As long as I've lived in Burlingame, Chicken Chicken has been here - until this year. Unfortunately it burned down (a gas leak, I think, but I'm not sure) recently, but I hope it comes back, which is why I'm writing this. Everytime you walked past, you could see the chickens roasting (the smell was IRRESISTIBLE!). During Thanksgiving time, they have great meals if you're not the turkey type. I also love their everyday meals with chicken, HUGE COOKIES, mashed potatoes, potato salad, biscuits, and lots of other things on the menu. It's a shame that this happened to Chicken Chicken, and I hope they come back to the Ave. :(

I've heard so many things about Sizzler from my friends. I heard that it's a typical American restaurant (I usually don't mind total American food unless it's completely inedible). So, I wasn't really expecting that much...I was around the area one day, and got hungry, so me and my mom went there for lunch. Let me tell you, DON'T BOTHER COMING HERE! The food went fast, and it wasn't all that good. The fried chicken (a food that's supposed to taste good, usually) was disgusting and tasted like it "sizzled" there too long. I'm going to have to say that the only part I liked about it (or managed to swallow) was the sundae bar (similar to Fresh Choice) and the biscuits and mashed potatoes. Most likely, I'm not coming here again, so I wouldn't recommend it, either.

Being the sneaker freak that I am, I HAD to come to Shoe Palace in Tanforan (just because I heard they sold kicks). Well, let me tell you, it was worth my time! I came specifically looking for white Air Force 1's, but they didn't have any at the time (neither did any of the other shoe stores in the mall). I was disappointed, but that vanished because the employees are SO nice that they make up for it. They found me every shoe in the store in my size that resembled my beloved Air Forces. I only had to tell them my size, and what color and style I wanted, and they brought the shoes to my feet. It was seriously, literally, a shoe palace. I loved it, and will definitely come back. They have much more variety than boring old Foot Locker, their prices are reasonable, and their employees are great. I ended up buying red and white dunks (the guy found them in just my size!), and WILL COME BACK FOR THOSE AIR FORCES! :). have fun at the shoe palace!

Whenever I need to buy some shoes, I usually come to Hillsdale. I used to go to Foot Locker until I discovered Winners downstairs. Foot Locker doesn't really have much variety anymore, and Winners has Nike Air Force Ones which are starting to be hard to get. Anyways, Winners has some really nice shoes, sweaters, and other athletic/urban-ish clothing. I don't really like their salespeople, though, (or the ones who answer the phone at least). I called once to ask if they had any Air Forces left (I couldn't come to their store until the weekend), and the guy kept annoyingly trying to convince me to come as soon as possible because they run out fast (but he wouldn't let me put a hold on them). However, I called three days later, and there were still many shoes left. Plus, they don't want to bother looking up the sizes and prices for you. When you ask, they get an attitude. But, hey, if you don't care about customer service, come here.

This place has the greatest, most original Halloween costumes! Except sometimes, they're not so original because everybody knows about this place by now. Some of their costumes can be a little...on the weird side though, like I saw this Halloween. This year, the theme was storybook characters, with Little Bo Beep and Little Red Riding Hood wearing mini mini skirts. Anyways, don't come here if you don't want to buy anything. I know people who got kicked out for dressing up and taking pictures in the store, which I understand can be annoying. But just a tip! You can have fun with the costumes AFTER you buy them! ;)

Oak Grove Market is a really convenient place for me to get a snack or gum or whatever before or after school because my high school is right across the street from it (that's why the store owner has a problem with kids loitering in front of the store everyday. it can get annoying). Whenever I forget breakfast in the morning, I come here to get something. The owner practically knows all of us so it's nice. I also love coming here in the summer to cool off with their 75 cents (small)/ 1 dollar (large) slushies. They especially helped me during cross country practice freshman year. I appreciated those 75 cents slushies! They did what Gatorade could and more! Thanks a lot! ;)

I'm sure that the people who put Panda on the Ave thought it looked more "stylish" with all the other stores than Burger King did. All my friends are satisfied with Panda being here on the Ave, but I dont' really like it. It doesn't have much variety, and the people who work there arent' very patient (I don't see how they have good business being impatient, because they get a lot of us teens, hanging out there). Anyways, I say bring BK back! I miss my Whoppers and hate going all the way to San Mateo for them. If I wanted Chinese food, I can just go to any of the hundreds of other places in Burlingame to get it! But, I guess Burger King didn't really fit into the "rich atmosphere" of Burlingame.

My favorite backpacks for school are Jansport backpacks because they're durable, strong, and last forever. When I don't have time to go to Hillsdale Mall or some other mall to get my backpacks, I just head over to the Luggage Center conveniently located on the Ave to get them. Although they are a bit overprice than say, Mervyn's or Macy's, they have nice colors and styles. THey also have many other pieces of luggage here, and I'm sure you can get a discount. My parents have bought luggage here.

I came here with my friend because we wanted to take studio shots for fun. It's what all the teenagers do nowadays :). Anyways, we decided to go to Sears. TIP: Before you go (that is, IF you want to go), find coupons online to take with you. They'll save you lots of money. When we got there, we wanted to buy 16 portraits (2 different poses). First of all, when we got there, the photographer seemed very impatient. We didn't want to smile for one of our poses (we wanted it to be natural/serious), and she kept telling us to smile. So, she made us laugh, which wasted one of our shots (i think we get 6 poses total). That made me really mad. And she insisted we do different poses that we didn't want to do. In the end, our pictures were horrible, and we regretted ever coming to Sears. I believe in giving places second chances, so I might be giving Sears another try in case I get another photographer. But if my pictures are screwed up again, then I'm definitely not coming back here again. I think this place is better suited for babies and family shots. Not for teens who just want to have fun and don't want to be told when to smile. :) Good luck!
