This *new* salon is in a location that's hard to see, but you need to make an effort to find it :)...it's across the street from Fringe Salon, and next to a tanning salon, and below Richard of Burlingame' salon. Were those 'directions' good enough? Lol... :)
So, my friend recommended Najwa's salon to me, because she's been going to Najwa for ages. I always change my 'people' so I decided to try her.
When you first walk in, you feel like you're in a Beverly Hills salon or something, the way it's set up. I LOVE it. It's simple, classy, and fun. The 'stations' are set up in the middle of the room. Sounds messy, but you have to see it to understand.
So, I came here for waxing, and Najwa took me to the room, and talked to me, and I didn't even feel anything. I was done in FIVE minutes. Fastest wax EVER. And it was only 10 dollars (upper lip).
I am going back to her next week to get my side bangs trimmed, and it's only going to cost 52 bucks (my hair is pretty long, too).
You should come here~

I'd never seen this store before in my life, but the words "Beauty" and "OUTLET" caught my eyes today when I was walking past California Drive. So, I decided to check it out.
It turns out that they sell wholesale salon items that mostly salons purchase at cheap prices, such as towels, combs, spray bottles, hair products, etc...stuff that you'd normally see at a salon.
I was the only customer in the little store, and although the lady was nice, she followed me from aisle to aisle (like I'd steal something from her little store). I never knew I was an intimidating teenager..lol. Anyways, she was starting to make me feel uncomfortable, so I left. But I'll be back, maybe, when I need some cheap combs or cheap spray bottles. Ha.

I think that I reviewed "part" of this store under "Sozai Corner" because somebody brought sushi from them for me, and the label said Sozai Corner so that's what I assumed the store was called...
Anyways, now that I've been to the actual place on 4th, I have to review it. Suruki Supermarket is another cute Japanese market in San Mateo. They sell the usual Japanese noodles, seaweed, curries, and other delicacies. My favorite part about this place, however, and WHY I came here, was because of the sushi corner...which I guess they refer to as the "Sozai Corner" (anybody know what "sozai" means? maybe that could help...).
So, at about 6:25, people start coming in and lining up in front of the sushi section. Then, an employee of the market comes with a red sharpie and starts marking "half off" on everything. Then, five minutes later, he calls "SIX-THIRTY!" And the people start scrambling and rushing and pushing to get as many boxes of the sushi of their choice as they can.
When I came in here, I didn't know about this little rushing game, so I thought I was being smart, and picked out all the sushi I wanted before they marked it down. Then I went to pay for it, thinking it was half price. WARNING: THEY WILL NOT, I REPEAT NOT, CHARGE YOUR SUSHI AS HALF PRICED IF IT IS NOT 6:30 YET.
Lol..so, poor me had to get into the back of the line (the proper way) and wait until 6:30 in order to get my discounted sushi :)
All in all, this market is awesome, with the same locals coming here everyday at the same time..for that delicious low priced sushi. I will definitely come here again!

For someone who doesn't have cable, and still wants to get their daily (or Monday to Friday) dose of music videos, CMC is the perfect channel.
It only comes on for an hour each week day which sucks, but if you have a chance to catch it, then it's worth it. It's on channel 26 (cable 6), a channel that usually airs Asian dramas and programs, and TV shopping shows.
So, from 4:00 to 4:30, are the alternative/rock/pop videos (which to me, means anything that isn't rap ;), and from 4:30 to 5:00 is the "Beat Lounge" which is where I come in :). It's perfect because it comes on right about the time that I get home, so I can sit back, relax, and watch my favorite videos.
This is a bay area based channel, so they often have contests where you can win bay area T-shirts, or Great America tickets, which I think is cool. It's easy to get through the phone lines, and I actually won a pair of movie tickets once. They're not very good about getting your requests through, but hey, whatever...
Overall, a good channel, if you want to take a break from MTV.

My style isn't preppy, but some of the stuff that they have at Malouf's is really cute. They also have really good sales, sometimes.
This store is located on Burlingame Ave. among all the other 'classy' high-priced stores. They carry brands such as Lacoste (they have a great variety of polos, tanks, and other Lacoste items) and Marc Jacobs.
When you purchase something from there, they take your phone number, address, and birthday (the lady told me that they send you something on your birthday, which I'm guessing is a coupon or something. I love it when stores do that).
This store is great if you're a hardcore prep/designer freak. Since I'm not, I just like to go there to get my Lacoste polos that match my Air Force Ones.
Lol.

I'm surprised that I've never reviewed La Baguette before, because it's been a 'tradition' in my family for a long time. Whenever one of us goes to Stanford Mall, we always make sure to buy something from here to bring home. They sell coffee, and other beverages, sandwiches, and TONS of yummy French pastries. When one of my parents tell me that they are going to La Baguette, I ALWAYS tell them to get me some eclairs. These are REAL eclairs, guys. Not the crappy American whipped cream filled ones. These are delicious, light, but filling. I also love every kind of tart they have...mixed fruit, strawberry, pear, whatever....
I could go on and on about this place, but to sum this review up, I think that it would be worth your time to come here when you're shopping in Palo Alto. You won't regret it!
Bon Appetit!

Whenever my family craves Chinese, and we don't feel like going out, we order Pierre's Chinese food. I've never been to the actual restaurant, but I found their coupons hung up on our door (by the mailman, i guess), and we decided to order delivery from them.
I always order the shrimp fried rice at Chinese places, and my parents order chow mein. The shrimp, by the way, is TINY, and it tastes kind of funky. The rice is way greasy (it feels like lip gloss on my mouth. gross, i know). The chow mein, though is actually pretty good. The veggies in it are crispy, and it's not that greasy.
One thing I like about Pierre's (besides the fact that they deliver) is if you order over a certain amount (i think over 15 dollars), they give you free food. For example, if you order over 15, they give you free egg rolls, and if you order over 25, they give you free rice or chow mein...I like restaurants that give you opportunities to try out their dishes in this way. I also LOVE their onion pancakes (crispy, with eggs and green onions).
This place is good, but not on a daily basis. It's good to eat at home, and I need to try the actual sit in experience at Pierre's.

The only two radio stations I always listen to are WILD 94.9 and 106.1 KMEL. The main difference between the two, I've noticed, is that 94.9 also caters to the Bay's Hispanic community with spanish songs and some reggaeton. As far as I know, KMEL doesn't have reggaeton.
I think on a professional level, KMEL is better at what they do. I love the music that they play, and the shows that they have on sunday nights. I also love to listen to chuy and faye(?) in the mornings.
Great station!

I always thought that I loved sushi, but recently realized that I haven't really had "real sushi". The only kind I've had was either vegetarian, or had cooked crab in it. I've never actually had RAW salmon or tuna, etc...
Being the Japanese cuisine freak that my father is, he always convinces me to try some of the REAL stuff, instead of the Safeway cooked 'crap' I always eat.
So, yesterday, he brought home THREE boxes of sushi from Sozai Corner which is one of his favorite places to eat Japanese food (and he's VERY picky about his sushi). They were 3 for 10, he tells me, which is a very good deal.
So, in this review, I'm not reviewing the actual restaurant because I haven't been there yet (but planning on it soon!), but the food.
I first tried the large rolls with lettuce, avocado, and crab, and other veggie-ish stuff (safest to try first...lol), and it was delicious.
Then, I decided to go for the spicy tuna rolls (my first ever raw fish, *tear* ;)...I drenched them in soy sauce so if I didn't like the taste, I wouldn't have to deal with it. But surprisingly, I tasted some of the tuna, and guess what? IT WAS DELICIOUS! I ate the rest of the rolls plain, and they were so good. Just enough ginger, with a little avocado, and lots of yummy tuna. The tuna tasted different, but good uncooked.
Now, all I have left to try is the rice with the raw salmon on top (sorry, I don't know the names of all the different rolls... :). It's sitting in the fridge waiting for me to discover it. This is probably some of the best sushi I've tasted in the Bay Area. Can't wait to discover some more "raw fish" places.
Thanks, Dad! :)
Enjoy (I'm sure you will).
