The Inn at Brookeville Farms had great food, although I did not find myself as impressed as I had hoped by the food. Maybe it was the prices and the service, both high, led me to hope for a unique dining experience, but I only found myself satisfied with my meal. That's enough for me to go back again, but not enough for me to go back frequently. I recommend trying it, but don't expect it to be among the best meals you've ever had.

Sakura is a Japanese steakhouse; the meat (or shrimp) is cooked on a sizzling griddle that your table is built around, and the chefs will put on a show chopping, stirring, and tossing around the ingredients and the implements. This can be just interesting or very engaging, depending on how much of a showman your chef is. The food is standard fried rice, veggies, and meat all cooked in front of you, although Sakura has a very nice sushi bar; the nice part is you can order sushi from the table, very useful for families with a combination of sushi lovers and those that won't touch the stuff, like mine.

A Washington Post food critic said that Le Mannequin Pis had the best Belgian food he had ever had...including in Belgium! I can believe it. The food there is incredible. Belgian cuisine is a bit of German, a bit of French, and very much its own. Buckets of mussels in different broths (i.e., white wine & tarragon) can be ordered as an appetizer or a main course, and are a Belgian staple. I've had a wonderful broiled fish there that I enjoyed more than I thought I could, as well as a kangaroo steak that really made my taste buds jump for joy. They also have a bar, and a great selection of ales and beers. The service can be a bit "European" (slow, occasionally standoffish) at times, but most of the time the servers are very helpful and friendly, even when slow. The dining room is tiny, so call ahead.

Mamma Lucia's has a few locations in Montgomery County, and so much the better for us! Their entrées are good to great, and as someone born and bred in New York City, I can say with some authority that their pizza is the best NY-style pizza around. The service can be hit-or-miss, but if the owners are there, they'll take care of you like you were family. Unfortunately, they're not always there, and they don't always leave the management in hands as good as theirs. But for good food at reasonable prices, you could do worse than Mamma Lucia's.
