The Chelsea is a very delicious restaurant, but it’s definitely overpriced for the quality. I’d go for dinner and not for lunch, I’ve been to both and dinner was much nicer atmosphere and better food. Fried green tomatoes were bland and undercooked, but the soups were creamy and tasty. Nice restaurant, don’t expect a ton.

If you love fondue, and you have a bunch of money to spend, this is the place to go! Be warned, you will spend about $50 per person including non-alcoholic drinks, tax and tip. But it’s a great experience. In the middle of each table, there’s a warming grill and the waiters bring bowls to mix up different fondues – cheese, broth/oil, or chocolate. Their salads are excellent, too. It’s an awesome experience but be prepared in the wallet.

Mr. Dunderbak’s is an awesome place to eat lunch or dinner. Many German meals, sandwiches, and beers. Excellent German potato salad, and the Best of the Wurst platter is remarkable. Not only is there a restaurant, but part of the store is dedicated to European chocolates, beers, cheeses, crackers and such. Stop in, it’s great!

Juice Moose has some wonderful choices for lunch. They have terrific sandwiches and salads, a little on the gourmet side and definitely fresh, fresh, fresh! Blend any kind of juice imaginable, either choose one of their menu items or make your own up. Add things like protein, immune booster, blue-green algae, wheat-grass or many other things. They serve Seattle’s Best Coffee, the Chilled Mocha is not to be missed. Great lunch spot!

We ate at the little café/golf course in the Grandover as well as had dessert and coffee at the nicer restaurant there. Both were overpriced for the quality of food. At lunch place I had a portabella mushroom sandwich. The bread was stale and flavorless, the mushroom overcooked and cold (it probably was suppose to be, but a bad decision I think), and the sauce was bland too. I think it cost about $14 and may have had no sides. The dessert was a crème brulee that was warm without the traditional caramelized-top that cracks like thin ice when tapped with a spoon. Eat elsewhere.

I cannot say enough good things about working with Bob Hershberger. He photographed my wedding in April 2004 and did engagement pictures before that. Bob’s work speaks for itself if you look at his sample albums online. Nobody else has anything that comes close. Bob is extremely personable and anything you want, he’ll go out of his way to get you. His skill at capturing the right moments is incredible. But what made him stand out from any other photographers I interviewed was Bob’s albums. You don’t get an album with sleeves for pictures that anyone could put together – you get a special thick book-like album where the pictures are literally “glued” or lasered onto the heavy pages to create a masterpiece. Look at his sample albums and check out his studio and you’ll see what I mean. Bob takes an ordinary looking setting and produces such incredible photos. I’d never recommend anyone else.

Yadkin Valley Steakhouse is a lovely little steak house in Albemarle. The outside is unassuming, but once you walk in you realize you’re in a more upper class restaurant. They bring out warm black bread with soft butter while you look at the menu on the candle-lit tables. They have a special method of cooking called Stone Grilling, in which they heat up a slab of granite and sear all their meat on it, to sear in all the juices. It produces incredible results. I had pepper-encrusted beef medallions with a caramel sauce and the flavors were out of this world!! The hot peppercorns contrasted with the sweet caramel was tantilizing! To conclude our meal we had outstanding chess pie and some Yadkin Valley coffee, which was rich and aromatic. They sell that up front, I’d recommend buying some. My only complaint was it wasn’t super fast, as it was pretty busy. But everything else is an A+.

This review is 5 stars ONLY based on Quaker Steak’s wings. Everything else there is good/ok, some cool appetizers. But the wings are the Reason to come here! They have about 21 different wing flavors/sauces. Tuesdays are all you can eat wings for $9.99. Other times you can order a bucket of 30 wings and choose two sauces to split. Louisiana Lickers is one of the more popular. Get the Atomic wings (sign the waiver) and have a competition with your friends – everyone who eats them gets their name on the wall. Best wings ever, make a meal out of them, but don’t expect everything else to be outstanding.

I cannot say enough about Hyde Park Steak House. It was and 4+ years later remains the BEST steak I have ever eaten in my life!! I had a filet mignon au poive with Bernaise sauce, and it melted in my mouth! It was velvety, it was seasoned to utter perfection…. It couldn’t have been improved on. The Bernaise was rich, buttery, and just the right amount of tarragon. We had sides of Asparagus with Hollandaise – the asparagus was tender, yet crunchy, and something akin to onion straws… though I can’t find that on their current online menu. You will never be disappointed. Their service was wonderful, but after such a terrific steak, we had no room for dessert. Go here and stand amazed.
