Whole Foods Market has only one downfall: it’s expensive. Ok, it’s crowded, too. But other than that, it has a tremendous selection of organic produce, some really good shrimp, tuna or salmon, and a terrific cheese selection. They let you sample to make sure you’ll like what you buy. The wine section is quite small, nice little coffee section. The desserts/bakery are amazing and very delicious. They’re quite pleasing to the eye and perfect for a party! They have a bar with salads and pastas and such, good for lunch. Overall it’s a great grocery store to get either gourmet or organic. Just be prepared to pay.

Earth Angel is located is a not-so good section right off Independence a little before the Brookshire Freeway exit. The bars on the door/windows will make you feel very safe. Actually, once inside you’re fine. It’s definitely not getting great points for cleanliness or orderliness, but it’s a got a nice sized selection of bikinis, club-wear, fantasy/costumes, and the like. The prices were a little high in my opinion, except for the bikinis. Lots of girls who work for clubs go there, so if you’re just a regular person like me you may feel a bit out of place, just get in and get out. Three dressing rooms, complete with blacklights (haha).

The Fox and the Hound is a good place to go get a drink with some friends. They’ve got pool tables for the guys and high tables nearby with barstools for the girls to watch and socialize. Their drinks were made OK, though a bit on the bland side (i.e. maybe not using very good quality liqueur). The did give free pepsi or coffee for the DD, that was nice. TVs all around and good music playing. Very crowded on Saturday night.

Bonefish Grill may be expensive, but it’s well worth it. Those who are afraid it will only serve seafood, take heart, there’s much more to entice you from the menu. The restaurant is dimly lit and the waiters all in black. The fresh bread and olive oil that come to your table are savory and hot. The appetizers and salads are tempting and good portioned. We’ve always liked our entrees, but never tried desserts. It’s a great place to go, gets a little busy, but still feels cozy.

Macaroni Grill is a great Italian restaurant at an amazing price. The ambience is so cozy – walk in and it’s decorated like a little Italian village. There are low-strung lights all across the ceiling. You can see the huge brick oven where pizzas and breads are baked. The staff are very friendly, be sure to mention if there’s a birthday for a special opraic version of Happy Birthday and a piece of cake on the house. The pastas come with delicious sauces, and some interesting things like capers, pickled lemons, and artichokes. This is a wonderful place for a family meal or a romantic dinner for two.

Panera Bread is a great place to go get an awesome cup of coffee, whether you like it straight, plain and black, or sugar-spiced with whipped cream and the fixins! You can create your own sandwiches and choose from their great selection of fresh baked breads, or you can order from their delicious salads. For cold days, choose one of their warming soups with perhaps a bagel on the side. They have a great looking selection of pastries and desserts if you’re the morning coffee and danish person. This is a great place to go!

Nectar Vineyard is a jewel hidden in such a small town. It’s the most cozy and wonderful little restaurant that will have you coming again and again! The food is gourmet and everything is marvelously delicious! Their wine list is so nice and not disappointing. The atmosphere is like a little French chateau, warm and a little dark and so welcoming. Desserts are outstanding! There was even live piano music, it was outstanding. Go try it, it’s not a disappointment!!!

For as far back as I can remember living in Yorkville, back to 1991, Bridge Street Café has been open and doing business. Many of their same delicious favorites are still on the menu: I have always loved the Wisconsin Cheese Soup with their soft rolls!!! Not a lot has changed, except as the town gets bigger they don’t necessarily always have you on 1st name basis. Take out is nicely available. This is one café worth a try for lunch, I hope they never close.

Ernie’s is a nice place to go eat, especially as a group. Either order a meal or get their buffet, both are equally good. The food is not gourmet, but it’s tasty and reasonably priced. We did a small get together there (about 12 people) and it worked nice, us even getting our own room. The service was good and it wasn’t terribly crowded. Good meal.

Parker’s BBQ was not the best BBQ I’ve ever had. It was ok, but nothing outstanding. The sides were disappointing, with the cold slaw, cornbread, and beans each being disappointingly plain. The service was good, with young 14-year-old looking boys doing the delivering and clearing of food. It wasn’t pricey, but it’s not amazing BBQ either. Good for the price.
