If you live in Austin or if you visit Austin, you must go to Barton Springs Pool. It is a spring fed pool, so the water is quite chilly at 68 degrees year-round. However, what could be better on a hot summer day? The only drawbacks are that it is so popular that it can be a pain on sunny summer weekends. It also requires a fee on top of the sometimes parking fee of $3. It's an additional $3 per adult to get in. But all of the hassle is completely worth it at least once a year -- especially if you are introducing an unsuspecting out-of-town guest to the jewel of Austin.
