St. Francis High School has a very nice campus, but it is not as big as that of Mountain View High School. The academics are pretty good there, and the teachers are generally pretty hard and pretty young. The stadium is gigantic! Overall, it is a good school for Catholic students if you're willing to spend a few thousand dollars a year on your student. They actually have enough lockers for everybody here and HALLS!!!

Los Altos High is one of the two high schools in the Mountain View-Los Altos high school district. It has pretty good academics and is almost as good as MVHS. Los Altos, however, is more successful at sports than Mountain View. This school though doesn't have an open acess policy like MVHS so you can only take an AP/Honors class with a teacher recommendation. I recommend this school if your child just isn't that smart (3.5 or under GPA in middle school) or if you're desperate.

This hotel is a good value for the price. I liked that our room overlooked the water and had a balcony. It is a lot like a Best Western, but maybe a little better. I didn't really like the location though. While it was near Queen Mary, the hotel was also near downtown Long Beach, which isn't exactly the wealthiest or the nicest place in the world. Nevertheless, I recommend this hotel if you're not made of money and need a rather nice place to stay at.

Dancer's Loft is a pretty good dance store. To be perfectly honest, I prefer Dance Attire, but Dancer's Loft still isn't bad. It is a little cheaper than Dance Attire, but doesn't have such big of a selection. Sometimes, they don't have your size, and you have to wait a month for them to order and receive that item. The place itself is small, much like other dance stores. I recommend this dance store if you live in the area.

Dance Attire is my favorite dance store! It has such a variety of ballet shoes, pointe shoes, leotards, and basically anything else a dancer might want. It is a little expensive though, but it is still a great store. Also, I like that they usually have your size and you don't have to wait 4 weeks for them to order the product you want. I recommend this store if you live in the area because then you get a discount if you go to one of the dance schools around.

I absolutely adore the Exploratorium! I'm not big on museums, but this place is so much fun! There are so many hands-on science experiments! It is a great museum for kids, because it is both interactive and educational. It is not super expensive, but do expect to spend about $30 or more if you're going with the family. This is a great place though and I recommend going there sometime, especially if you live in the area and have a family.

I stayed there a few years ago when it cost under $200 a night to stay there, but now I just don't get what the fuss is all about, especially that now it costs over $300 to stay there. The room was nice and clean, but it wasn't worth the money. I liked that it was near the beach though. I recommend this hotel only if you have plenty of money or are willing to do anything in order to stay near the ocean.

This is a nice book store in downtown Mountain View. It has a selection of books, but what I like most about the store are the calenders. You can usually find a nice, funny, or colorful calender there--basically one that strikes your fancy. The line is usually short and the staff is nice and helpful. Still, I prefer Borders. I recommend this store only if you are really desperate. Most people that visit the store just browse, few actually buy!

Books Inc. is a nice-looking store on Castro St with a fair selection of books. It is, however, pretty expensive. I prefer Bookbuyers, which is near Books Inc. and is also on Castro St. If you don't find what you are looking for either in Book Buyers or Borders, you could try Books Inc., but that is a pretty unlikely situation. I like that this store is two stories and the people that work there are really nice and will help you find what you need!

Winchester Mystery House is super big and super scary! The tour is amazing (but a little overpriced). Don't wander off though, you will get lost, since there are over 300 different rooms. This is a cool place to go to on Halloween. If you're in the South Bay, definitely visit this place sometime! It is a truly terrifying place, and everyone that I know that has been there has loved it and some even came back a second time!
