I gave Fillmore 6 months to sell my house and it ended up not being sold. The brokers made the most unflattering description of my house on their website and didn't take pictures of the inside. In the beginning they brought some people over to see it, but later on the only time people were brought was for open houses. I'm now selling it on my own and someone who came to see it said they called Fillmore several times when it was listed with them and left messages, but nobody ever got back to them. We are also selling another house, and there are numerous mistakes in the listing and the pictures taken of the inside are awful. That listing has been going on for almost 6 months as well.

Ok, I wrote a good review of Sal Napoli a while back but boy, my opinion has changed.
My sink is leaking and we called them this morning. He told us that he's "very busy" and wanted to come during the day today, which is no good because nobody is home to let him in. So we asked him if he could come around 4:00 when someone would be home and he said again how "busy" he was and that it would be $200 just to walk in the door besides fixing the leak for a "small job" like that. We told him to forget it and he would get someone else.
What gets me mad is that I recommended him to everyone I know, and he had no problem going to my friends house after she got home from work to fix her toilet and shower, and did NOT charge her $200 extra. Is this how a long time customer, who sent other customers to him, should be treated? I think not!
I didn't expect him to come immediately. It isn't an emergency. I was willing to wait until he had time to come even though I can't use the sink, but he had a very bad attitude about the whole thing.
So sorry you couldn't fit the "small job" into anyone's schedule but your own. My house is very old and I'm sure a big job will be coming up soon, and it won't be you that I call. Your loss.
Oh, it gets worse. My mom kept using him even after he blew me off. The clock part of her thermostat stopped working a couple of months ago, and I told my mom that it probably just needed a new battery, but she didn't want me to touch it. She wanted a "professional" to look at it. Napoli came and charged her over $100 for a new thermostat. A few weeks ago it stopped working again.
She called him, he came and did something and it started to work again. He said that they don't make thermostats like that anymore (so why the heck did he install an obsolete thermostat????) He told her to call him if it stopped again, and she said that she would call him in the morning if it did, and he said ok. A few hours after he left, it stopped again. Actually, the hands started spinning around like crazy and then it stopped. She called him right away and left a message. Called him the next morning before 8 like he told her to, left another message. He never called her back.
Finally, he had some other guy call her and say that he would come "sometime" the following week and he would "see what he could do".. My mom got upset and said "what do you mean sometime next week?" and the guy asked Napoli, who was right there and didn't have the decency to call her back himself, and he told the guy to tell her Tuesday or Wednesday. Well, it's weks later now now and Napoli has neither called or gone over there and my poor elderly mom is without heat.

We bought our new Hyundai from Plaza Auto Mall a couple of years ago, and aside from it taking a long time to do the paperwork, everything was fine.
My husband took the car in for an oil change, and Vladamir told him that he needed the maintenance done too. Never told him how much it was going to be.
My husband almost had a stroke when he picked up the car and it cost over $350! He had no idea it would be that much and should have been told before the work was done. On the paperwork he had to sign it said that "customer acknowledges receiving original estimate of $400" which is absolutely not true. If my husband knew that it was going to cost that much, he would have told them not to do the maintentenance. The car didn't even need it yet and Vladimir knew that because he said it was a little early.
Because of this, they lost a customer for good. We're going somewhere else from now on. My friend is also a customer of theirs and they tried to pull the same thing with her and now she goes somewhere else for service.
Oh, and last time we took the car in, I stupidly left some money- about $15 for tolls from our recent trip-hidden in a book in the glove compartment and forgot to take it out. There was a recall on the airbags and I guess they had to take everything out of the glove compartment to get at the air bags. Lucky guy who opened and looked through everything in the plastic envelope holding the book where I hid my toll money. When we picked up the car, all the stuff that was in the glove compartment was on the passenger seat and the money was gone. I didn't say anything because I had no way to prove it was there. They should be ashamed.

I love shopping at Landi's pork store. Their meats are beautiful! Really. Everything is displayed so lovely that it makes me hungry to go in there. The meats are a little more expensive than in a supermarket, but they are worth it I think. In the back there is a display of cooked food that will make you drool. They also have many kinds of Italian groceries, and in the middle are the refrigerated cooked items like lasagna, egglplant parm, and lots of other yummy ones. Whenever I have a party at my house, I always get a few trays from here. It's so good!

I have been shopping at Amazing Savings for years. I used to shop at the McDonald Avenue one when I lived there, but now I mostly shop at the Avenue M. location. They are both great. You never know what you're going to find here. They have everything from toys to housewares to crystal. They had a really awesome looking dollhouse over the holidays and it was only $30. If only my kids like dollhouses! The people that work there aren't the friendliest, but you'll usually get great bargains.

My son attended the League Treatment Center a few years ago and had nothing but bad experiences there. They still affect him to this day. He calls it "the crazy school" (his words, never mine). Apparently the therapists and teachers here think it was fine for him to come home bitten and scratched almost every day because when we raised our concern, his teacher told us it was "normal"! I still have pictures of the bites and his scratched face. The nurse would send home notes every day asking what this mark was on his arm or leg, but when I wrote one back asking why he came home with a bite mark, there was no answer. I am SO sorry my son ever attended this school because he left there with worse behaviors than when he went in that only time and being around "normal" kids in inclusion was able to help. The things I saw here are what prompted me to fight for him to be in inclusion when he aged out. He is doing fantastic in inclusion!
Nancy Doldus, the director, called me a couple years later to see how he was doing, and I told her that her school was a terrible experience. She never called me again.
Unless your child has severe emotional problems or is severely autistic or disabled severely in any other way,I would not send him or her here, My son was not severely affected, but I was told this was "the best school" and it's not. For kids like him anyway.

We visited F.A.O. Schwarz yesterday as part of our annual treck to go visit the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center.
We haven't been here in years. I think they closed down a few years ago? I'm not sure, but it wasn't the same. The main floor has mostly stuffed animals. In the middle is a huge ice cream parlor type restaurant. My son wanted to go downstairs where the cars are. Do NOT do the Hot Wheels Factory because it's a huge ripoff. I think it cost $23 (or more, husband wouldn't tell me for fear I would get mad), and they claim that you "make" your own Hot Wheels car. You buy the activation code, and enter it in the computer. Then you pick a choice of 6 cars, 2 colors, 2 wheels and 2 engines. Then the computer pretends to "make" your car, which shoots out in a little case. Then out shoots a certificate with your kid's name on it, or in our case, was waving in the slot with someone on the other side yelling "take it" because my son wasn't paying attention. Over $23 for a $1.99 car in a little plastic case, and all they do is pick the one that matches what you specified out of the limited choices offered.
After that, we left because I thought it was such a ripoff. Besides a few cute old fashioned toys on the first floor, I'll leave this place to the rich and the tourists.

This is a small version of Home Depot that took the place of a Pergament in Mill Basin. It's pretty good if you need tools, or paint, or even appliances, but they need more customer service people working here. I went in the other day looking for paper leaf bags. In NYC they want you to put your leaves in paper instead of plastic and they collect them 2 days in November. My mom has a huge tree in front of her house and needed the bags badly. The flyer that came in the mail said they are available at Home Depot. I went to the gardening section and there wasn't a soul around to help. Finally I tracked someone down and he said he didn't know and called for someone to come to gardening. Even he said that there was no organization there and he didn't know why nobody was in the department. As I was about to leave, someone from that department showed up and said they didn't carry them. I wasted at least 20 minutes waiting around to find that out. Same in other departments. I also needed a tarp and none of them had prices on them, but I couldn't find someone to ask for help, so I left without it. If they had prices marked on items, or a scanner to check the price, and actually had some customer service around, they could be a great store.

My mom has very, very bad feet and is also diabetic. She has gone to a few foot doctors, and the last one really messed up her nails. Also, she has a lot of pain in her feet and the last doctor just stopped cutting her nails because my mom was hurting, even though it had to be done.
Dr. Carlton was very patient with her. When she said it hurt, has asked her if she wanted him to stop, and she said no. Then he said that then she would have to stop saying it hurt. I thought she would be mad that he said that, but later on she said it was good because then he did a great job with her nails. She has horrible fungus and they are very thick, and he took a long time thinning them out. They actually looked pretty good when he was done. She also had a corn under a nail that the previous doctor couldn't get rid of because it was too painful, but Dr. Carlton got rid of it in minutes.
My mom is very happy with him and is going back soon to get prescription shoes. Her feet feel much better now.
