Quail Ridge - THE independent bookstore in the Triangle

If you are into supporting “the little guy”, then this bookstore is for you. Quail Ridge manages to hold its own against Barnes & Noble and Borders thanks to consistently offering good books, great service, and always having authors come in for talks. Their prices are pretty comparable to the big guys. They tend to be the place to find books by local/regional authors and their author-talk lineup reflects that, although they do get some big name authors too. They’ve also got a good classical music CD section, and the employees know what they are talking about when they recommend a CD to you. They’ve also got a Reader’s Advantage program that you and your entire family can join to receive discounts off every purchase. I think it is $20 a year for it, but it is free if you are a teacher. Plus, it's right next to Whole Foods, which is normally pretty packed for good reason.
