Colony Theaters, sister cinema to Rialto Theater, is just as fine a place to see a film. With two screens, they have a similar focus (independent, foreign, documentary) and twice as many screens to get the job done. The snack bar has almost exactly the same offerings as the Rialto (bottle and fountain sodas, candy and popcorn, beer and wine) and attracts a similar crowd. The theaters themselves are specimens from another time: earth-toned shag carpeting on the walls, and projection booths occupied by an actual projectionist. The seats are comfortable and the screens are big and clean. This is truly a great theater. One word of warning: bring cash, since the don’t take credit/debit cards and there are no readily available ATMs.
