I've never been to New York, but I feel like I have.
Picture a slow day in a sub shop. No one around and I'm the only person looking at the menu hanging from the ceiling. Now imagine a guy behind the counter asking me what I want. Then imagine me saying "This is my first time here, this may take a while." What can I say, I take food seriously.
I look over the menu and find myself getting frustrated. Could it be the dozens of yummy choices nicely described on the aforementioned menu or could it be that in a span of 3 minutes I've been asked if I'm ready yet a million times? A recap: no line, my first time, and no line. Did this guy need to go to the bathroom? Maybe. Is this what New York is like, a bunch of needless questions and the feeling of being rushed when there is no reason to? I've heard rumors, but I've never been so I'm no sure.
Anyway, I order my sub. I wanted the sure shot Philly, but opt for adventure and the Italian. WOW!!! I was not disappointed. After heating up the sub myself in their microwave (yes, I had to heat it up myself!) I took a big bite into what a sub should always taste like. The bread was warm, of course, and full of some sort of spice stuff. There wasn't alot of it so I couldn't pick out any oregano or basil or anything like that, but there was something in the bread that gave it a nice distinct flavor. The provolone cheese was fresh and nicely gooey. It had alot of flavor so it had to be fresh or at least well stored. The lettuce and tomato and green peppers were all in attendance. Nothing special there. Ah, the meats. The capicola was nice and spicy and was easily discernible from the other flavors. The pepperoni was good and tasty and fresh as was the salami. When I say fresh please recall the last time you ate at Subway and then compare that to the last time you ate some meat from a deli. That's what I'm talking about..
The nice thing about this sub shop was that everything tasted like it had just been cooked or baked or, otherwise, made. I felt like they put my sub together from the freshest batch of everything. I've been back twice and ordered the same sandwich with the same results. Mind you that I have to drive about 10 miles to get to this place. It really is that good. So if you live in Denton, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Corinth, or even Carrollton stop by this sub shop for what Subway and Quizno's constantly TRY to live up to. EAT AT NEW YORK SUB-HUB AND TELL OTHERS!!!!!
