I was happy to discover that Foster City has a free shuttle that goes pretty much anywhere in the area I need to go. The drivers are very friendly, and the shuttles are fairly timely. They only run from about 9:30 am until about 3:30 pm, but for no charge, I can get around, and not have to ask for a ride!

Ice Center is a great, fun place for the whole family. We like going on Wednesday nights, since they offer a discount, that for a family of 3 is cheaper than their family night rate on Sundays. They have several vending machines, and the restrooms are easily accessible. There is also a skate store on site, that appears to offer ice-skating apparel, other related things.

This is a great surfing/ beach themed restaurant on Pier 39. It has a laid back, yet energetic atmosphere, and is very family friendly. We only waited about 5 minutes for a table, and our order was taken fairly quickly. Food took about 15 minutes to come, and was delicious. I liked that the kidsโ drinks came in a plastic cup with a lid and straw. I thought the prices were very reasonable considering the location of the restaurant and how popular it was. One not of interest- They have one bathroom- Men and women all share the sink and mirror area, and there are several stalls (the doors go from floor to ceiling so no one can see in at all) It was just strange since we are used to having separate areas for men and women.

We had fun at this shop trying on all different hats- to he ordinary to the really off the wall. They seemed to have hats in every price range. We were not bothered by pushy sales people, but were able to find the registers quickly enough when we were ready to check out. I actually found a hat I really liked, and my daughter found a cute one shaped like a fish that she didnโt want to go home without.

Treasure Ireland is a tiny shop on Pier 39 in San Francisco that specializes in trinkets and souvenirs celebrating Ireland and the Irish people. Everything seemed really expensive, but it was fun to look at. The salesperson was very watchful, although nice enough. He probably didn't like seeing the kids in there- not really a shop for kids- there were breakable things at kid level, although the shop is small enough that with only a few adults inside, it was overcrowded, and you could have easily bumped into something.

We spent almost an hour in here looking through all the posters. They seem to have something to please all different tastes, from rock posters, to art prints from different eras, to cartoons, and photography. It was nice not to have a salesperson standing over your shoulder every second, in fact I didn't see a salesperson anywhere, although the shop was crammed with people. They cater to the traveling crowd, too by offering to ship your posters to your home, for a fee, so they don't get messed up on your trip. You can also buy a travel tube for several dollars, to protect it as well. The prices were more than I would want to pay for a poster, but given the tourist location of the store itself, you can expect that things are going to be overpriced. All in all, we had fun looking, though.

This little shop makes the best treats for a sweet tooth! You can buy mouth watering fudge by the pound (or fraction of a pound if you want), fresh made candies and truffles, and apples dipped in your choice of chocolate, caramel, or cherry flavored candy. A sticky mess to be sure, and they don't offer wet naps, so it was a time getting my daughters face clean after the cherry covered apple! I am one of those rare women who don't *LOVE* chocolate- in fact I can usually go without it, but one of my few weaknesses are chocolate haystacks, and the ones they offered here didn't disappoint. My husband is a chocolate covered cherry addict, so he tried a cherry bomb- basically a cherry wrapped in fudge, dipped in chocolate, with the stem sticking out the top. I think he was in heaven!

While browsing the stores at Pier 39 in San Francisco, we came across Russka Babushka Dolls, a tiny store on the top floor down by the carousel. They have some really lovely painted babushka dolls, in prices ranging from $20 all the way up to the thousands. The salesladies were patient and helpful, and seeing as my 7 year old daughter fell in love with them, and daddy was along(who happens to be wrapped around her little finger!) one lady spent almost half an hour telling my daughter about all the different ones in the shop. Of course she was quite happy showing her the ones costing over a hundred dollars. I politely and honestly told her that I felt that was too expensive she happily steered my daughter towards the less expensive ones, and helped her choose one that was on sale for less than $50. I felt the service was excellent, if you are not wanting to buy, be honest, and tell them you would just like to look, and you shouldn't be pressured.

This store specializes in salt water taffy by the pound, all kinds of flavors, some you would never imagine! We had fun filling our basket with flavors reminiscent of Jelly Belly variety. This store also sells a large variety of novelty candies, the kind you don't find everywhere. These seem to be pretty expensive. They also sell a souvenir box of taffy, but at 10+ for 14 ounces, I opted to buy separate half pound bags of taffy, and they were happy to put them in individual bags to take back to friends.

I was looking forward to going here, since I love sourdough bread so much. I was not disappointed. We took my daughter through the tour, and saw it being made, and got to taste some of the fresh bread. It was fun to see all the different shapes they made the bread into. My daughter was enthralled with the baskets of bread being transported continuously overhead. We had lunch in the cafe, the bread bowl with chowder is the best, and the service was great too!
