I've stopped in Me 'n Moms on a number of occassions. The store is HUGE and the selection is pretty good. They have maternity clothes, baby clothes, toys, stroller, cribs, and just about anything else baby you can think of. The store design is well laid out, and very clean. You can certainly make an outing by visiting the close-by Locks or Golden Gardens.

At Bastyr, I have seen naturopathic doctors on a number of occassions. When I was a student, they have a reduced free of $20. Since this is a clinic, the visits take longer in that you first see the student doctor(s) and then the supervising ND comes in, then they leave and develop a treatment plan for you. But, it's worth the lengthy visit in that the care is very high quality. I brought my infant son here for recurring ear infections, and their suggestions were quite helpful.

I love visiting this store everytime I visit U-Village. They have a great selection of Robeez, Zutano, and other unique baby clothes in addition to toys, and just about any other accessory you would need for baby. They also have toys for older kids but I haven't wandered over to that section yet. You can set up a registry here, which is great since the items, all high quality, can be quite pricey!

I love this store- which features wooden, non-electric toys. It's a great place to buy gifts or toys for your young one! I haven't taken my son here yet but I will soon, I can't wait to pick out a special toy for him. A friend recommended this place to me which I hadn't noticed before. I will definitely be buying future birthday presents here!

Over the years, I have been here a handful of times, for both color and haircuts. The stylist are licensed cosmetologists but are going through the Gene Juarez training, so the prices are less than a Gene Juarez salon but more than a typical training school. Overall, my experience has been positive. One time the foil was absolutely awful, they re-colored it 3 times and it was still awful and I went back and finally had it fixed properly. So, that was a little frustrating and I don't think I'd risk coloring my hair here again. Also, since it's a training school, the teacher has to come over and approve everything and that can take f.o.r.e.v.e.r especially if you're getting more than one service. Book ahead because they have such limited hours and weekends are packed.

The Greenwood Academy of Hair actually offers a wide array of beauty services. The stylists are cosmetology students. For this reason I was a bit leary to try it out, but after passing the salon on the bus a million times, I decided to give it a try! I had a haircut and was rather impressed, it was one of the best haircuts I've ever had, and it was about $10! Sadly, I don't remember the student's name or else I'd be a client of hers. They often have specials and definitely book ahead, the cheap prices and surprisingly good quality means that you might not be able to call in for an appointment on the same day.

I visit Chifferobe weekly as it's conveniently located along my daily walking route :) The store has a nice, clean layout and is well organized. They sell more clothes than toys and other baby gear, which seem to sell fast. The prices seem to be about average for consignment stores. They pay 50% cash and 40% trade, and have specific buying hours in the afternoons.

Another fun store to lose yourself in, while in downtown Olympia. Admittedly I haven't looked through all this cute boutique shop has to offer as I go straight to the baby section! They carry the cutest line *ever* called "Bunnies by the Bay" (the original store is in La Connor). These luxe baby items include stuffed animals, absolutely adorable outfits, including bunny and sweet pea themed items (with matching hats and shoes to boot!), blankets, and bibs. The store also sells chocolate truffles, cards, candles, and other gift items.

PEPS is a non-profit organization that offers a wide variety of services, with their most popular being the new-parent support group. They offer both day group and evening groups. The evening groups are great, because then both parents can be involved and it accommodates us working moms! Groups are put together based on geographic region, so you get to meet other new parents in your area. Though my initial experience with PEPS was negative (they lost my registration information and I wasn't placed in a group until my son was 3 months old...and other details I won't get into), the staff ended up being very accommodating in the end, and my experience has been great. We had different speakers come to talk to us about a variety of topics (nutrition, infant development, childproofing, etc) that I probably wouldn't have had access to otherwise. My group still meets and I definitely recommend PEPS to anyone having a baby in the Seattle area :)

Archibald Sisters is one of the great institutions of downtown Olympia. This eclectic store is a great place to buy gifts of all sorts. They have a wide variety of custom scented lotions and oils, and offer pre-mixed products as well. Just a few of the other things they sell include candles, jewelry, gift cards, and the like.
