If you're down for a little something different from all of the other restaurants in the SoHO area, point your attention towards the ACME Bar and Grill. I went there on a Friday night, had no problem getting a table and felt immersed in the overall vibe of the venue. The waiters can be a bit slow for a bar/restaurant that isn't that large, but the food is well worth it. From the Po' Boy sandwiches to the gumbo and jambalaya, you won't be disappointed. The back of the restaurant serves as a bar area and there is a wide selection of beers at your disposal. One thing you'll notice while you eat is that the "ledge" bordering the walls of the restaurant are adorned with tons of different hot sauses and spices from all over the world. The vibe is pretty decent, though if you are picky about having a quiet dinner alone with someone, beware of the people in other tables sitting about a foot away from you as they tables are grouped so tightly together. This is definitely a place I recommend if you're hanging out with a group of friends. And be sure to check this place out during the weekend from 10-4, as there is a brunch special, including open bar. more
