There is a reason the Sterntaler Bakery could not keep the nut stollens, first made in December, in stock after doing tastings. Thick stripes of cinnamon and walnuts interspersed with organic cake and a firm crust made the nut stollen positively addictive. This stollen is a great alternative to bringing wine to a party and it is available all year I learned.
The German breads are dense and hearty.
Most popular are the German pretzels made in a traditional way that are unlike any you may have bought on a New York street. (I dare you not to drool looking at the pumpkin seeded pretzel on their home page.)
The bakery sells wholesale for large parties, markets, and other outlets. Spread the word so you'll be able to get a hold of it!
This might sound like an ad, but i am just a major fan of the bakery and I want to make sure the word gets out!

Their food is consistently delectable. Brunches are hearty and while some say pricy at $9+ for omlettes are well worth it.
Sunday nights there's an early bird special starting at 5. This is a true insider tip: For the same price as an entre you can get a 3 course meal + a glass of wine.
Salmon in a cream sauce, bread pudding in a rich caramel sauce, salad, and wine for $16? My friends and I were in heaven.
The location is convenient, by Fillmore on California. It seats only about 10 tables so is a cozy ambiance while not stuffy due to one wall being fully windowed.
I highly recommend it for any meal of the day if you're looking for fresh, well prepared, good value meals.

While Coupa does not have bagels, I will overlook this as their breakfasts and other pastries are great. Serving Venezuelan coffee directly from the source, you can't help leaving completely wired....
While Coupa does not have bagels, I will overlook this as their breakfasts and other pastries are great. Serving Venezuelan coffee directly from the source, you can't help leaving completely wired. Speaking of wired they have free wireless access. Tables are jammed close together. The central Palo Alto locations results in lots of students and entrepreneurs creating a buzz atmosphere. It's great day or night. Dont' miss the chocolates from Chuao, the best in the country IMHO.
