Expect Delays For Safety 6/12/2006

I have flown in and out of many airports, but none have been as slow and tedious as the Tulsa International Airport. I was discussing this with a friend just a couple nights ago, and I am certainly not the only one that feels this way. He recently flew from Tulsa to Phoenix and then to San Diego, and then back using the same airports. He told me the security checks at the other two airports were nothing, compared to those at Tulsa International. These are the same experiences I have had, comparing Tulsa International with other major airports. At Tulsa International Airport, you can expect to take your shoes off, have all your luggage searched, open computer cases, the whole bit. I flew with my son a few years ago, and had to take him out of his stroller, for them to search it, had to go through the metal detector myself, and then go back for my son! I was in such a rush, and almost had to laugh at what I felt was the absurdity of the situation, but then had to realize that there could be someone who appeared as everyday and innocent as I am, and they could actually be a potential danger. I have to admit, I did feel better about the security of my flight! All in all, the Tulsa International Airport is a nice place. They offer several shops inside the airport to make your wait more comfortable, and have several rental car dealers available on site. They offer a shuttle to and from the airport for anyone who needs it. Although the security checks and slow overall moving at the Tulsa International Airport can seem like a hassle, we can rest better, knowing that they are doing all they can to keep us safe. more
