it's been fun to see Phix at the Fox. the fox is just barely not intimate enough to make dancing comfortable, and it's wired for 18+ shows. there's photos on the wall of all sorts of people who have played there (note '93 images of trey anastasio and jon fishman). good to see national acts here!

great place to bring the fam. and it's basement is a music venue that's a great place to find up and coming artists - many big names have rolled through Oskar's downstairs. it's like the wetlands, but in a cool town instead of a dirty city neighborhood in new york. pool tables, too. check it out!

6:30am-6:00pm, 7days
Coffee, in house sandwich bar, great breakfast treats, desserts. an ideal plan: roll in at 7am, browse one of many Falcon Guide to Hiking Colorado books, and find a hike over coffee. then drive up 36 to Estes Park and take that hike. on the way back, come back in for a sandwich and a smoothie, and then go play pinball down the street.

boulder co-op is a community center, and a provider of quality foods. their bulk department is wicked cool. it's organic, and vegetarian, and it shares its space with Cafe Prasad, which is DOPE! try it out, as a comparison to big time multinational supermarket chain Whole Foods Market, and to local chain Vitamin Cottage. they're a real co-op, too, offering membership and with the aim to be sustainable and work with local companies. oh, and they offer yoga, capoeira, movies, open mic, and other sorts of community events. check it out!

hey, it's a capitalist world. ok whatever, really, small business, and they always manage to get great sale prices for their organic produce. they also refridgerate nuts and oils, which i've heard is muy importante. on top of that, it's right next to WFM, so then you can go there for the stuff that you can get great prices for at WFM.

there is something about the tortelone alfredo that gets us going back for more, and trying to eat it, and just getting overwhelmed; but we always want to go back again. def. a boulder favorite. i also love their italian sausage over pasta of the day with red sauce - it's a bit spicy, but there is also this freshness and sweetness to the sauce. ain't nothing like the real thing, baby.

it's a bit out of town, but not too much. at the intersection of table mesa and broadway is where you will find the Southern Sun, located next to a corner Conoco, but facing into the mall behind it. this is quiet the same experience, but more space. there are benches set up for groups, or conversational folks, and there is a longer bar than Mountain Sun's infamous 5 seats, and then there is also a corner with cushy couches. besides those nooks, there is standard seating at tables and booths for your average group of 3-4. the place is great, by the way; all the same great love that you'd come to expect of the Mountain Sun. lots of live music, and more space for fuller groups or dancing. just as roudy - perhaps it's the great beers, and $6 pitchers after 10pm. definitely a favorite in town, and a nice alternative to the overpacked Mountain Sun (still, don't expect to avoid a 30 minute wait at primetime hours).

this place is like the mos eisley spaceport for hippies. it's loud, always rocking some sort of newgrass musicians from the front of the house, or over the airwaves; classic dead live moments. great NACHO PLATE appetizer - you'll be surprised when you order it - it's huge. they brew like 10 different beers - i always love their stouts, but their amber and golden ale are great too. always get fries with your sandwiches or burgers. the tempeh ruben is great, and so is the blue cheese burger. go there. it's loud, but they've got scrabble, so it's ok.
