So, I was lucky enough to eat at this restuarant on someone else's dime. Suffice it to say, I wish they could get a refund. The steaks were a far cry from Ruth's Chris (the gold standard in my opinion), and some of the sides came out cold. Dessert was bland (creme brulee). They do have a nice wine list though, as well as a full bar to help coat the taste of the steak. Atmosphere is quiet and romantic, but it's still inside a hotel, so take that for what you may.
Bottom Line: Overpriced and underdelivered. A recent Saltgrass Steakhouse opened which outdoes this Steakhouse in every way.

This is a story of a restaurant with a long history, that quite possibly has outgrown its britches. Early in my career I visited this restaurant and was wowed by the food (5 star easily), but recently I have only been wowed by the prices. Creative menu that is constantly changing, but for whatever reason, the food does not live up to my prior expectations any longer, although it can be hard to maintain perfection for many years.
Bottom Line: Wonderful for visiting tourists, Houston weekenders, or locals. Best seafood on the island.

Tourists want good seafood when visiting Galveston, and why shouldn't they? Considering the proximity to waterways, etc. you would think seafood restaurants could deliver. However, that is not the case with Fisherman's Wharf. The menu is rather boring and overpriced, especially considering the quality. The atmosphere is the only saving grace as it is located on the bay side with a nice look @ surrounding restaurants and the Elissa Sailing Ship.
Bottom Line: if you're a local, don't even try it. If you're visiting, you could certainly do worse, but invariably could also do better. If you want food and don't care about a view, head elsewhere.
