I don't know how they can sell food so cheap other than they have quite a bit of volume. It's like stepping back into time for pricing. Huge menu to choose from for different sandwiches. And once you've finished you just can't pass up a piece of pie. My favorite is coconut but they have a variety and the slices are pretty big.

Gayety's is 'the place' for ice cream in the Chicago area. They've been around for decades and have the best ice cream and chocolates. Everything is homemade right down to the whipped cream. Their portions are pretty large, for instance when ordering a shake they fill up the glass plus give you what's left in the silver mixer and to top it off vanilla wafers. Everything I've had their is excellent.

If you've never had a breaded steak sandwich then you have to head over to Ricobene's. Very cheap and very very messy but oh so good! They are huge, but thank god they came out with a Jr., it's much more of a normal size. Their pizza is good too but their breaded steaks are what they are known for. Oh, and their cheese fries go great with the steak.

I happened upon Moonstruck by accident. I am a coffee lover and needed a good cup after shopping. I ordered a Mexican Mocha and immediately fell in love. The flavors of the coffee mixed with their mexican cocoa are truly amazing. They also have a dessert and chocolate section that is mouth watering. I haven't tried all the drinks and chocolates (yet) but every one of them that I've tried are exceptional.

La Strada's in Chicago has great Italian food. You walk in and feel the warmth and smell the aroma and you just want to sit back, relax and have a wonderful meal.
I love their veal with prosciutto in sage sauce - it just melts in your mouth.
It's been around for a while and I'm sure it will be around for many years to come.

Perry's is great if you don't mind waiting in line. I've seen the line out the door sometimes but considering the price and what you get for it, I guess waiting a bit doesn't matter. The sandwiches come with a fork because they are so big - there is no possibility of getting it into your mouth. A half is definitely more than enough - my favorite is there egg salad and they have the best shakes.

The people that have worked on me for hair and facials have been great. The atmosphere is very relaxing and they do a great job. The only drawback is that it is a bit pricey for Indiana but they do work on a sliding scale. Meaning if you get the director to do your hair you are paying quite a bit but if someone is an Associate then it doesn't cost as much.

If they aren't voted as number one in Chicago then they should be.
I get cravings for this delicious pizza every so often and take the drive into Chicago just for the pizza.

Gibsons has the best of everything. Atmosphere, people and food. The steaks are great - I have yet to have a better steak anywhere. Servers are very accommodating to you and friendly.

Their bar atmosphere is energetic and on most nights you will find the "Who's Who of Chicago" in there.
Very pricey but worth it plus the portions are very large.

Their hamburgers are large and they have the best cheese fries. A little pricey but you are also paying for the atmosphere.
