Even though the store is small, and much less intimidating than navigating the sheer acreage of Home Depot or Lowes, I can find everything I need to manage small home fix-its AND there is always some helpful person on hand to guide me through the store, fine tune my fix-it plan, or show me something new.
They also keep the seasonal stuff, like fans or space heaters, up front so you see them right when you come in.
They've got an excellent variety of garden tools and seeds, and even window screens. We've been getting munched by mosquitos the last few nights because neither of us wanted to go to the big stores ( "you go", "no, you go", "No, you go!" ). Popping into TruValue for a drill bit led to getting screens (and a mosquito free evening last night!), a new shovel and a decision on the paint color for the bathroom all with easy on street parking and quick help from the paint guy.
Couldn't be happier supporting another small, local business. Thanks guys!

I live pretty close to Swansons, and while there are places cheaper, there are none prettier and as well stocked inside the city, or as close to home. They have a huge selection of Monrovia brand, which I never have a problem growing, and thier staff have always been kind and courteous. One guy helped me with vine plants for a good 30 minutes, sharing his knowledge and getting info about the climate in my yard so that I'd get just the right thing. A great place to gather ideas as well.

We've taken all of our cars here over the years and have always been happy with the work. They've gotten busier recently because they truly are THAT good. They take the time to explain things, are great at recommending repairs with sound cause, and keep us abreast of what might lay ahead for our vehicle (like spark plugs and cables that we always forget about). Just can't say enough good stuff about them!

Herkimer is a small town in New York, but in Seattle it's a great coffee shop. They've got free wifi and a bright atmosphere we love on a Saturday morning. The bigger room off to the right has a super long table for sharing, great for us hooking up with our neighborhood friends, or for meeting new people. Same with the small back counter, or any of the window counter seating. What I really love is how pleasant the staff is. Coffee shops get so busy, and I get that dealing with "the Public" can be tiring, but I've never gotten that vibe at Herkimer which is a refreshing change in Seattle. There is bench seating outside and generally a few dogs lounging about with their owners. Also plenty of room outside for strollers. Check them out, but don't expect chai, they are die-hard coffee folks.

After doing two 4 week sessions with them over the winter, I lost 30 pounds and 4 dress sizes and went on the best vacation my Husband and I can remember (I wore a bathing suit!). The classes were motivating and fun, even during winter's blustery weather, and Kimae, the trainer, who is equal parts serious and humorous, often said just the right thing to challenge me through 3 more push-ups or another 5 crunches. The affirmations during the cool down stretch were especially motivating, often staying with me throughout the day. Team drills were a great way to get to know the other women in my class and with an exercise like sack racing there were often alot of laughs involved. A good thing to look forward to when you're working out at 7 a.m. If you are looking to slim down and shape-up, I would highly recommend them!
