Boing is the toy store to visit in JP! It is great fun, even if you don't have kids. They have a dizzying selection of toys, games, and fun stuff for all budgets. The staff is incredibly friendly, and always has great suggestions. They know their toys!
The store itself is just amazing. It's packed with toys, and everywhere you turn there is something new. There are a lot of quality toys here...not a lot of junky toys. There really is something for all price levels; you can spend $5 or $500.
It's a fun store to bring your kids, as they are very welcoming and have a lot of demo toys out. They area very patient and kind staff too! I love this store.

The Centre Street Cafe in JP is one of the best places, in my opinion, in the city to get brunch. Get there early, as the line gets very long to get in if you show up too late. They cafe has coffee out front to drink while you're waiting, and the atmosphere while waiting is kind of fun. It's worth the wait.
Once you get a seat the real fun begins! Yum! Great food, good service, and funky decor all make it a nice brunch spot. They are very vegetarian and vegan friendly and I love their mimosas.
My favorite dish is the hashed brown potatoes, which are full of other incredible veggies too, and slathered with sour cream. All the ingredients are very, very fresh.
It is worth the wait in line, and I recommend you visit!
They do serve other meals too, but brunch is the one to check out!

The Coolidige Corner Theater is a great little independent movie house, which shows fantastic indy and foreign films. It is Boston's only non-profit movie house, and because of that you can become a member of the theater for great bonuses. As a member you can get invites to special screenings, and discounts at local businesses.
The films they show are just super. Some are obscure, some are more mainstream, and some are quite political. It's a great place to bring a date!

Bukhara is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Boston. The menu has a large selection of dishes and a greats election for vegetarians. The offer a buffet for lunch and on weekends that is a super deal.
Their website is located at: http://www.bukharabistro.com
On the site, you'll find the menu, information about the restaurant, and info on their catering.
The interior is clean, nicely decorated, and serene. The food is quite delicious, and I have never had a meal I didn't like. The service is top notch as well, always polite and kind.

I have been a fan of LUSH products for over 10 years now. Back in those days I had to stock up when I went to England. By stocking up I mean filling every available space in my luggage with highly scented bath bombs, soaps, shampoos and goodies. I would then carefully ration the products, so I wouldn't run out too long before I could return.
Imagine my delight when I moved to Boston and LUSH opened a store on Newbury Street! Walking in that store, or even walking past it, is like heaven to me. The products are quite highly scented and just smell great. Inside the store are jars of coffee beans you can sniff when you get sensory overload.
The selection of products at LUSH varies widely, with traditional bath bombs, to fresh skin care and cosmetics that have to be refrigerated. My favorite products are bath bombs, small bath that you drop in your bath water that fizz, scent, and sometimes color the water. They are just gorgeous.
There are seasonally available products too, which are not to be missed. These are limited edition bombs, soaps, and products only available during the holidays. The only problem is getting absolutely addicted to a product which is unavailable soon after.
The store is laid out well, ingredients of each product are clearly listed, as are prices. The ingredients are all food grade products, but don't eat the soap! The staff is cheerful and friendly, and very helpful when you need help. While prices are somewhat on the expensive side, the value is very good. (Little tip-You can split the bath bombs in half and only use one half at a time!)
All in all, it's just a great store and a great experience. Check it out.

Boomerangs is a fantastic charity shop located in the center of hipness in Jamaica Plain. Their sales benefit the AIDS Action committee and they have a fantastic selection of clothing and other things to choose from.
I go mainly for the clothing, but I have friends who shop there for furniture almost exclusively. They get fantastic stuff in! Recently, before a wedding, I managed to score an Ann Taylor dress, with the original tags still on it. It was originally $79 dollars....at Boomerangs it was $8!
The staff is very friendly, the clothing is well stocked, well marked and sorted and wonderfully priced. The stock changes quickly, so it's best to visit often.
There is another location of Boomerangs in Brighton which has many toys and books for children. Boomerangs also has an auction site occasionally, where you can bid on great items. All in all this is one of my favorite stores on Centre Street, and I always walk out with something great.

Bella Luna is among my favorite restaurants in Jamaica Plain. From the funky atmosphere, to delicious food and friendly wait staff....this restaurant never fails to please me.
The pizza is top notch! My family just loves it. An added bonus-they deliver! It's our favorite Friday night treat. The have many different types of pizza and an astounding array of add-ons to please everyone.
The staff is really knowledgeable about ingredients and different dietary concerns. I am a really strict vegetarian, an I hate cheese. Every time I order my favorite pizza (Intergalactic Eggplant) without cheese they let me know that the eggplant does contain some dairy. This, to me, is outstanding service. The menu is full of great options for vegetarians, and the staff is very accommodating.
The atmosphere is just super, with hand designed plates and great lighting. Sitting at the windows is my favorite, as the people watching is superb.
This is one of my favorite places in Jamaica Plain, and deserves a great review!
