What a cool diner to experience. The distinctive design of the building looks like a giant Ku-Ku clock and the bird at top used to chime every hour. Yes, ther bird is still there. Owner Eugene Waylon bought this Miami drive-in three decades ago and has been in business here on Route 66 ever since. With it's old fashion feel and occasional car shows held in the parking lot, you can't help but feel taken back in time. He offers the best burgers in town along with freshly made shakes and malts. He operates Ku-Ku and it has become an icon of the road. This business is on the verge of a new revival. People are starting to get off the Interstates and rediscover national treasures in Miami such as the Ku-Ku Drive-In.

Zinc and lead-mining millionaire George L. Coleman decided to bring a little culture to Miami and had a beautiful Spanish Revival Style theater build in his honor in 1929. This classic theater was used for vaudeville and movies alike. The Coleman theater has the distinction of never having closed its doors in three-quarters of a century. Though the Coleman Theater never closed, it did fall on hard times as so many theaters did in the past few decades. In 1989 the theater was given to the City of Miami by the family of George Coleman, and has since undergone extensive restoration. The beautiful Spanish Revival design makes the Coleman Theater stand out in downtown Miami. Over the years the original Wurlitzer organ disappeared. The city of Miami despaired of ever finding it again. But things sometimes have a habit of working out on Route 66. During the restoration process it was located in the collection of a Texas organ collector and generously returned to the Miami theater. Today the original Coleman Wurlitzer organ once again inspires audiences at the Coleman Theater. The exterior of the Coleman Theater is an architectural wonder, but it only hints of the magical world inside. George Coleman spared no expense when building his show palace. Beautifully carved stairs with guilded statues light the way. Ornate, colorful ceilings and splendid furnishings impart a fairyland effect in this theater goers wonderland.

The Finishing Touch is located near the Historic Coleman Theater in downtown Miami, Oklahoma. This store is something that no one could have seen coming. Owner Lynette Kemp, makes you feel as if you are a child playing dress up. She carries styles for all women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. The inner child that you know is there and you just aren't sure if the world is ready to see can't help but peek out and show it's face after stepping into the playful shop. You will lose any inhibitions after talking with Lynette or Karen. Knowing that they won't steer you in the wrong direction, but give you that boost to help that inner child come right out, you will be able to see the you, you knew was there all along . My taste in clothing has broadened and I've become a bit more adventurous in how I see myself. Many thanks to Lynette and her hand-picked staff.

The Gym is the only local fitness organization open to the public in Miami, OK and the members of the community are certainly paying for it. This center offers many options for working out including free weights, aerobic machines, racketball courts, and classes for several types of aerobics. While having the advantage to discuss your views on city politics with the mayor/co-owner, you also have the disadvantage of having a membership with an organization that doesn't offer a wide time schedule of operating hours, or workability with individuals membership needs. If you don't mind paying close to $40 for an individual membership when you can drive 20 miles north for less than half the cost, more time avalibility, and more workout options including a pool, then THE GYM may be the place for you.

This cafe is the best place to eat, to relax with friends, not to mention the food and service. You won't believe the atmosphere. You feel as if you've walked into a small Tuscan village. And the owners make you feel as if you are part of their village family. With such a wide variety of foods and drinks, you can't help but enjoy your experience. From breakfast to the late night coffee and dessert, you will leave the aromatic restaurant feeling delighted in just having the experience. One more thing, always ask for the head chef to sing out one of his favorite tunes while preparing your meal. With all these great qualities, I put the cafe on my travel intenerary each time I pass through the area. Don't miss it!
