In summer 2005, I found myself in the market for temporary storage for about a month while in-between apartments. Though I normally wouldn't look in the Mission District, I needed something near my daughter's Daly City apartment. My experience with storage previous to this incident was with major chains such as Public Storage. I was a bit reluctant to try a 'small' local unit, but was pleasantly surprised to find that Army Street Mini Storage is efficient, knowledgeable and can offer advice on types of trucks or unit sizes. Their location is very easy to get to, right off 101 and 280 at Caesar Chavez (Army Street).

What a fantastic self-storage business! They go the extra mile to provide customer comfort and courtesy, not to mention low rates. Despite the fact that I entered this facility only an hour before closing time, while driving a huge U-Haul, the ladies at the front desk were overwelmingly helpful, and even added a special discount for using U-Haul without being asked! They cheerfully showed me three different available storage units, suggesting an end unit on the second floor as being closer to the locking dock since I could use their elevator, rather than renting on the ground floor. They then showed me their selection of hand trucks and dollies, and offered me some free boxes. While I was backing up the 21 foot U-Haul, both of them came out and directed me with the dexterity of an air-traffic controller, demonstrating tremendous patience and caution. Although I only anticipate using their unit for a month or two, I would highly recommend the safety, cleanliness and extreme courtesy to anyone, anytime. I have not found anything to compare.

Ideal Stationers is worth the trip over the Golden Gate Bridge any day! A huge assortment of not only your everyday stationery needs, but also a wide selection of Hallmark cards, fancy papers, and a nice display of gift items as well. They also feature office supplies from the plain (paper clips, paper) to the more esoteric (forms, filing cabinets, lunch boxes) to fill all your paper needs. The location is convenient (plenty of free parking) and don't let the construction going on at the Town & County Shopping Center deter you; they're open for business as usual!

Cozmo's is a fun place for singles and features pretty decent food--not just drinks. The food and service is really very good. The chicken and salmon dishes are superb! The fresh warm bread they serve is also great. It is true that this restaurant is half a bar and half a restaurant, so if you're there on a busy Friday or Saturday night, it's going to be noisy with singles. Ask for a Cozmo card which gives you a discount! Parking is difficult in this area, but they do offer two-hour validation at Lombard Street Garage between Fillmore and Webster (south side of Lombard) by the Chelsea Motor Inn.

It has a lovely bar featuring fish tanks and colorful hats, and the interesting dining room exude an air of mystery. Sit in the back by the indoor waterfall, and enjoy the absolutely huge platters of classical Mexican food served by the friendly staff. Their salads are delicous for those looking for lighter Mexican fare--that is, if you can possibly resist the delicious chips and guacamole and those world class Margaritas.

United Dental Group Inc. is great! I went in for a consultation for a root canal. He was very thorough in his explanation of what he was going to do and a very friendly guy. The staff was very professional and curtious, I felt very welcome there. They also were very careful to let me know my exact copay amount for the procedure before I came in - this was nice to know they wanted me to be comfortable with the money before going through with the procedure (the root canal>) I would highly highly recommend United Dental Group Inc.

San Francisco Auto Repair Center is conveniently located and has a very good reputation in the San Francisco Bay Area. I believe they were voted Best of The Bay by the Express periodical a few years back when Auto Repair was a category in their annual poll.
The staff are always professional and will take the time to discuss any problem you have. They are also very honest, fair, reliable, efficient, and offer very competitive pricing. They specialize in foreign made cars.
