The Best Vietnamese in the Valley 6/29/2005

Saigon Seafood is a Vietnames Pho restaurant located in a strip mall in Chandler on Alma School Road across from the Freescale Semiconductor facility. While the atmosphere is not prepossessing, the pho on order is without a doubt the finest available in the Valley of the Sun. The Pho Tai Bo Vien has a lovely peppery stock served very hot, in which the cook plunges noodles, cilantro, thinly-sliced flank steak and Vietnamese meatballs. Served with a generous portion of bean sprouts and peppers to add to taste, the Pho Tai Bo Vien is best paired with Cha Gio, egg rolls that are more meat than mushroom. Wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves and dipped in the clear orange sauce, the Cha Gio are a fine counterpoint to the Pho. Finally, the Café Sua Da, hot Vietnamese coffee served with a generous splash of sweetened condensed milk and a large cup of ice to combine all the ingredients, and the patron has a full and tasty meal for less than ten dollars. more
