On a recent cold and dreary day, I was watching traffic on the St. Clair River. I had left my Ohio home in the wee hours of the morning and was starting to think about lunch. As I passed Memory Lane (a few short blocks from the river), the sandwich board announced deli sandwiches and soup. Sounded great, but even better than the food (the price was a pleasant surprise, too) was the atmosphere. Historic photos of Marine City on the walls, cozy indoor seating, and a patio for warm-weather dining were eclipsed only by the cheerful owner's attention to my take-out order.
