Six Flags New England is definitely a full day event. With plenty of rides to keep both the timid rider and thrill seeker happy, you'll never be bored (except while waiting on long lines). Mr. 6's Pandemonium, a new ride for this year, is a spinning roller-coaster which is a bit more tame than it is made to appear, but good fun nonetheless. Thrill-seekers should hop on Superman...what a rush! Six Flags is a great time, with great rides for everyone. Food is, of course, rather expensive. I recommend packing a cooler and eating in the parking lot to save a little. Also, if you're willing to spring a couple extra bucks, get the Q-bot fastpass--you'll spend a lot less time waiting in line!

KaBloom makes really, really nice flower arrangements. Their prices are rather expensive, but if you are looking for an intricate flower arrangement or hard to find item, Kabloom is the place to go. The Watertown location is right in Watertown Square and has plenty of parking. The owner has worked there for many years and is really nice. Definitely check it out...even if you don't buy anything, you will be amazed at the high-quality, beautiful floral arrangements.

In an area saturated with hotels, the Holiday Inn Express is a comfortable, inexpensive place to stay. They have competitive rates, continental breakfasts, and free high speed internet. No pool though. Staff is very accomodating to different needs and will do anything to make your stay more comfortable. Hotel tends to book up VERY quickly during the period before colleges start classes and parent weekends. There are also many restaurants right in the nearby area.

The Best Western TLC is located right on Totten Pond Road, a busy area with a lot of hotels. While the Westin looks truly luxurious, the Best Western is a good value. They have generous discounts if you have a college student in the area and rooms are cool and comfortable. I've only had one problem with them; during a busy weekend, we found blood on a pillow and had a hard time finding someone to take care of it. They did apologize profusely though. They serve complimentary breakfast, which is just ordinary, but overall it is a comfortable, convenient place to stay.

It is a show for the entire family, incorporating music, lights and movement (and some paint) into an incredibly enjoying experience. It is hard to describe, but everyone in theater walks away humming the songs and with a giant smile on their face. It's a wonderful experience for all and it is very interactive. Be careful...if you sit too close to the stage, you may get soaked. It's ok, because the theater provides ponchos for those in the "soak zone". Definitely do not come in your best clothing though! Everyone should go see it at least once!

Lanes and Games is a great place in Cambridge that won best bowling in Boston for 2004. They offer candlepin as well as ten pin bowling games (with and without bumpers), for reasonable prices. The offer leagues (for both types of bowling) as well as children's birthday parties. Their restaurant/lounge is clean and very nice, with a wide selection of food to choose from. The pro shop on the second floor will help you keep your bowling ball shiny and new, and it features the latest equipment.

Island Rock is one of the best places for rock climbing on Long Island. Beginners to pros can be seen climbing the indoor passages, belayed by trained staff (who will give you plenty of encouragement if the heights scare you!). Walls are 30 feet high, and there are about 50 paths to climb. They even offer birthday parties for fearless children or corporate events (I've seen business types go climbing here on their lunch break!). Rates may get a little pricey (especially if you don't have your own belayer or equipment), but it's definitely a unique experience that everyone should try once!

Leisure Time Billiards is a great place to meet up with friends and play some pool. Their newest thing is "midnight glow pool" on Friday and Saturday nights, where everything glows in the dark. Kinda freaky, but cool! It's a very clean place, that has a nice bar and cafe. It's a fun time, and prices are reasonable. They even have tournaments every Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Or if you're lucky, some of the pros may give you a few pointers on your shots!

Buy a quart or a pint...you're going to want to have some for later too! They even have 10 or so sugar-free ice flavors which are pretty decent. Ralphaccino is its signature drink, a cremy, icy coffee blended drink. I am a big fan of their strawberry shortcake and Snickers fudge flavors. Try them...you'll never go anywhere else for italian ices, guaranteed!!

You can also register to use its copy of Microsoft Office. There is even a summer film series which shows very recent movies every Thursday afternoon at 2PM. Well worth a browse or two.
