Situated at the heart of Rockefeller Center, The Sea Grill is a restaurant that can best to described as "captivating". The atmosphere of the restaurant is subtle, classy and elegant. The food itself was nothing short of spectacular. What ultimately made me very fond of this restaurant was the quality and preparation of the food. I ordered the Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare as an appetizer followed by the Monkfish as the main course. Everything was prepared to perfection without any overbearing taste that is common with food that contains preservatives or has had too many spices added. To top off the evening, the head chef, Edward Brown, walked around the restaurant to meet and greet various customers as well as ask for feedback on their dining experience (both on the service and quality of the food). Overall, I had an enjoyable dining experience and look forward to the next occasional excuse I get to take someone to this restaurant.

I've been to this restaurant about 4-5 times and I've never been surprised by the fact that the taste of this restaurant's food has been seemingly mass produced. Carmine's has developed a reputation of being one of the best Italian Restaurants in NYC. Although I will not dispute the fact that the casual atmosphere provides for a relaxed dining experience for larger parties, the food itself does not match the seemingly magnified popularity of the restaurant. I will of course state that Carmine's is a wonderful restaurant for large groups (5 or more) and those whom are interested in consuming large portions of food. The wine selection itself is another highlight of this restaurant as their selection produces over 200 bottles from the larger vineyards ranging from California to Italy. Simply put, Carmine's is great if you're looking for quantity over quality.
