Best Bookstore in SF

Tuesday, December 12, 2006
I am a So. CA native. I lived a short time in SF when I was growing up & frequented the Clement St. neighborhood (& went to Star of the Sea School). I love this area for it’s diversity. I especially love the Green Apple Bookstore for its sprawl & good selection of unusual books. When I am visiting in SF I try to plan a trip to Green Apple as it is always a treat to spend as much time as possible getting lost in the books & touring through what seems like room after room after room of books. I have special memories of visits & great books I acquired at Green Apple! "What books have you acquired?" - you ask. A selection: "Tales from the Prince of Story Tellers" - edited and with an introduction by Barry Menikoff (my intro into the world of Menikoff's research into RLS), "The Collected Poems of W.B. Yeats", "Jorge Luis Borges Collected Fictions" - translated by Andrew Hurley, "Il Fornaio Baking Book: Sweet and Savory Recipes from the Italian Kitchen" (acquired visual memories - did not purchase), and most recently: "The Biodynamic Food & Cookbook: Real Nutrition That Doesn't Cost the Earth" by Wendy E. Cook. My very favorite bookstore in SF!
