The 9:30 club - thustly named because shows on the weekends begin at 9:30 - is the premier club level music venue in the area. They draw great entertainers on a national scale and generally have something going on every single nite of the week. The sound system is great. There is plenty of seating on the upper balcony. There are 3 bars situated throughout the small club - so when it is packed - as it tends to be - you never have to move too far to get a drink. Conveniently located near the U St / Howard Univ metro - the place is easy to find - although it isnt in the greatest of neighborhoods.
Tickets arent too expensive - and can be picked up even cheaper (than ticketmaster that is) at the box office. The staff - although quite aggressive in appearance - are very very nice.
