This is a very good vet clinic in the city. I first went here with my cat Amos, and received excellent check-up care. They were very gentle with him, as he was a scaredy cat, and made him feel calm. Dr. Hershberger shares the clinic with Dr. Alex Herman, and I prefered Dr. Herman, but both are very knowledgable and the staff are great with animals too.
Cons: it is kinda out of the way from most residential areas, on S. Van Ness

I'm not sure what it is, a naturally occuring gravity center, a gigantic magnet under the house, or a great ploy, but the Mystery Spot affected me physically. It's this house-cabin on the outskirts of Santa Cruz that will pull you down, and make you feel like you've lost your balance. There is no explanation for it, you just slide to the side and feel this big pull on your body. Fun for kids.

This Aquarium is much smaller than the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but it has a nice underground aquatic tunnel that young kids love to go through. My son was 18 mon. when we first took him, and he was enthralled with the sharks that swam over our heads. Besides the tunnel, though, there is not much of an exhibit. Small tanks and aquariums hold specimen local to the Bay.

Cliff's Variety store has been around for I don't know how long, and although Home Depot and Lowe's has taken over, this store is a great alternative if you need to find a quick solution to your broken home. And being in the Castro adds that much more impetus to go. I recently broke a pot and my plant was in desperate need of a home, so I rushed to Cliff's to get a stylish pot, much cheaper than the alternative at Pottery Barn.
