World of Mirth in Richmond is a really cool store with tons of great gifts and collectibles. I remember when the store was really small and at a different location, but when it moved to the Cary Street location, they seemed to have grown considerably and appear to be a little more upscale now. They have a ton of tiki stuff, elvis and retro stuff, gag stuff, and nice gifts. This place makes me feel like a kid in a candy store! I can look around in there for hours. I definitely think everyone should go by World of Mirth when in Richmond.

The folks at Candyland Music in Richmond are terrific. They let you play their instruments, offer you great deals, and they'll even refer to you different stores if you cannot find what you're looking for. The store carries a great selection of beautiful guitars, basses, and other instruments. I definitely recommend shopping here if you're in a band or looking to pick up a new instrument. This place, to put it bluntly, ROCKS!!! I have told many people about Candyland and everyone who has gone has walked away a happy customer.

I am not sure why PETA's headquarters is located in Norfolk, but their motives are sometimes skewed. The group loves animals and stands up for their rights, but sometimes they are too extreme in their ways of protesting. The group has caused a lot of controversy here in Hampton Roads, and nationally as well. I love animals very much, too, but I don't think the way PETA handles their love for animals in the right way. They are scaring people off in the area, and making scenes where they shouldn't be. If PETA wants to stand up for animals, they should try simple fundraising or peaceful protests instead.

Dr. Corney is a great doctor, and her nurses are wonderful, too. She always makes me feel comfortable and makes sure that my experience is pleasant and calm. Whenever she prescribes me anything, she always sits down with me to discuss the medicaion instead of just sending me on my way. It is usually easy to get an appointment there, and you don't have to wait a terribly long time, so you can go on with the rest of your day. I would highly recommend her and her staff if you are in search of a good OBGYN.

The Children's Museum has recently been remodeled and a lot of new things have been added. The building looks new and modern and is just wonderful. They have loads of great things for kids of all ages to do, including a lot of hands on stuff so the children really feel included in the activities. There are tons of cool experiments, exhitbits, and other fun things for kids of all ages to do there. They also have special presentations and book readings at certain times, so be sure to check their schedule when you go. You and the kids both will have a wonderful time there!

The Painted Lady is an old Victorian house that is now a restaurant and tea parlor. The inside is decorated with old vintage pictures and decor, and the ambience is really soothing and calm. You can choose from just about any room in the house and make it your seating spot, and dine on old wooden tables with beautiful china and linens. The food is great, yet simple and the wait staff here are some of the best around, very attentive. My mother loves taking my grandmother here for lunch because it reminds her of an era long gone by.

Cool and Eclectic is a lot like Decorum Furniture in that they sell amazingly weird and wonderful items. The difference is that this store has some of the most unusual items I have ever seen in this area. From life size figures, to shoe shaped recliner chairs, the store has something for everyone. They also sell clothing and accessories, but the artwork and furniture are what really get people talking. I expecially love their lip shaped red couch and funky lamps. This is definitely a place to check out, and tell your friends about, too!

My best suggestion is to make sure you go through everything, because you never know what you'll find when you shop there. I have found some unbelievable prices on some big name brands, and some rarities, too! The Wardrobe is a fun place to shop and located in a beautiful part of Hampton Roads!!

Ronnie's boutique is a great place for seconhand clothing that is a little more upscale than the usual thrift store. They sell beautiful gowns, dresses, skirts and tops for resonable prices, and often you find designer labels for much less than you would see anywhere else. The store is quaint and offers an amazing selection for the fashion diva. I love this place, and have found several great deals on some beautiful clothing here for a terrific price. And, if you have something you'd like to put on consignment, they'd be happy to do that as well!

The Botanical Gardens in Norfolk are located right next to the airport, but don't let that scare you. The gardens offer a peaceful getaway where you can look at a variety of beautiful flowers, trees, and other indigenous plants. There is a beautiful lake where you can sit under a tree and feed the many ducks that live there. The gardens also offer a boat ride, gift shop and plenty of open spaces for a picnic lunch. I am proud of our botanical gardens and think they are definitely one of Norfolk's natural treasures.
