I just LOVE Urban Outfitters' clothing! Although sometimes their prices can be a little high, if you can catch the same items you've been eyeballing on sale, you will be pleasantly surprised. They have such adorable, trendy, and really unique clothing that I visit their website almost every day. They also have great stuff for your house or apartment, shoes, jewelry, and stuff for the guys, too! Everything they sell is unique and different, and that's why I like them the most. If you want to stand out in a crowd, get your next top or skirt from Urban Outfitters!

Art's Kitchen is unique in that they serve good ole fashioned Southern cooking! Their menu changes practically DAILY! The prices cannot be beat. If you're looking for some classic comfort food, this is the place to go. The restaurant has been in the area for many years, and still makes some great biscuits and collard greens, as well as an ever changing specials board. They also make traditional fare like hamburgers for the kids, so they can eat and be happy, too.

Nauticus museum was built to look just like a military ship and they really did a great job on the architecture. The museum is mainly about our military and Naval history, but they also have a lot of great exhibits for the kids as well. Additionally, Nauticus changes up their travelling exhibits which usually offer up something to do with science or nature, giving the museum a different angle and new things to explore. The museum is located downtown right near Waterside, so it makes for a great place to go on a day trip to Norfolk.

I remember going to Pets N Things when I was little girl, and they are still in Southern Shopping Center today. They have lots of neat fish, birds, and accessories, as well as rodents and reptiles. At one point they had an old pirhanna fish that was about 75 years old! They also had a small monkey there. I have found the staff to be really nice and answer lots of my questions with detailed and friendly answers. It's a good place to buy fish and aquarium supplies as well.

Waterside has been a staple of the Norfolk area for years. They have tons of great restaurants and bars, and lots of nice local shops inside. The building is located right on the water, and you can see beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay. Waterside is a great spot for nightlife and shopping, and is an important part of this area's significance in becoming a larger metropolitan city.

The Wedgwood Garden Center is on Little Creek Rd. near the Food Lion and Cash Converters. They sell a nice little variety of plants, and on occasion I've found they carry some interesting specimens that you don't see all the time in other places. At Halloween and Christmas they sell pumpkins and trees, along with greenery and poinsettias. Their prices are fair but a small bit overpriced. I'd recommend going there to see what kind of selection they have.

The folks at Colley Ave Bike Shop are super friendly and helpful. They will order and build you a custom bike, or you can pick one up from their in store inventory. They also do repairs and sell bicycle equipment like helmets, pads, and tons of accessories. I like coming here when I need my bike worked on because their service is fast and really cordial. I would definitely go here first if you're looking to buy a new bike or if your old faithful needs some repair.

I went to Ocean view Baptist for years as a child, and my family still goes there now. They have added on a private school in the last few years as well. The members there are very friendly and focused on helping the community. The youth group goes on a lot of great mission trips to a number of exciting places, and last year they went down to Florida to help the victims of the hurricanes there. I think if you're looking for a good church in the area, this is a recommended choice. You'll find a lot of supportive, warm, and open people here.

The Norfolk Zoo is one of Hampton Roads' treasures. In recent years they added a really neat African exhibit that has baboons, rhinos, tigers, zebras, and more. There is also a reptile house, farm animals section, seals, and tons more. It truly is a fun place for everyone to come and see the animals. The zoo is inexpensive and there is plenty of parking. After you see the animals, be sure to bring a picnic lunch and eat outside in the park right next door. I definitely think everyone who lives in the area needs to visit the zoo here at least once and you will have a great time interacting with animals from all over the world.

Plan 9 is AMAZING. They have used Cds, vinyl, and even tapes. Their downtown location is the best. Many famous singers and band members have been known to shop here. The store also sells magazines, DVDs, t-shirts, and concert tickets. Since they renovated and added the basement downstairs, the place is jumping with tons of awesome records, and a huge selection of used Cds at GREAT prices. I make it a point to go here whenever I'm in Richmond because I always find something I know I can't find anywhere else. Plan 9 is probably the best record store on the east coast!
